We beat Utd in 95 mate, who also had a vastly superior team.

Just saying.

I appreciate that and that's why we all find the 'knife to a gunfight' mentality in a lot of matches from not only Moyes, but Martinez and Koeman too, so frustrating. Anyone can beat anyone on their day, but I just think Chelsea had too much for us on that occasion.

But although Moyes coined that phrase, I think the losers mentality was firmly in place before Moyes arrived.

Look at our record at Anfield. Everton Football Club have a losers mentality when it comes to playing them away unless we're at the very top of the league. Take 1970-1984 for example. Around 14 years without a win. Since Moyes has left, we haven't even won a derby. It's not a Moyes thing for me, it's an Everton FC thing as Moyes won us some crunch ones albeit only a few.

You say he's a loser, and he does seem to have become one since leaving Everton, but despite never winning anything at the club, a lot of our fans are short sighted when it comes to his achievements here. Everton were in turmoil before Moyes arrived, relegation battle after relegation battle and the club had turned in to failures long before Moyes arrived at the club. Some of the worst results in my time supporting Everton came just before he got here, like the Tranmere 0-3 in the FA Cup which was an utter humiliation. And then there was the 0-3 in the Quarter Final at Boro which sealed Walter Smith's fate.

.......
I absolutely don't want him back now though, as both parties have moved on.

We came 7th last year and this year we're in good shape to match the 17th place from Moyes second year.

While there is undoubtedly something not right at the moment, its crazy how we all of a sudden look at the past with rose coloured glasses. I for one do not want Moyes back. I'm also not sure Unsworth is the answer.

The real culprits? The excuse for a board who for the past 20 or so years have shown nil ambition, been responsible for appalling marketing of the club, along with failed stadium deals and think that staying in the prem is our goal. We can discuss managers ad infinitum, but until the real losers go from EFC its immaterial..

How can that be pinned on Moyes when we had a losers mentality for years before he turned up at the club? I honestly find it baffling that so many Evertonians claim this.

In the 11 seasons before Moyes came we finished in the top 6 just once, and finished in the bottom half in every single season except for that one and a 9th placed finish in 1991. How on earth does that make Moyes the one with the 'loser' mentality when it was already firmly in place? Is it because Joe Royle managed an unbelievable Cup win and great next season, with a few derby wins thrown in, in among 11 years of horrendous and humiliating results?

In Moyes' 11 full seasons he got us nine top 8 finishes. So how is it Moyes is the loser?

I mean the club in general including the fans. We were rubbish beforehand of course we were but we knew it was not acceptable. Nowadays we just seem to accept our lot in life and get on with it.

It depends on your definition of loser doesn't it? He has won nothing in his long managerial career. He got 11 years at Everton which is a huge amount in top flight managerial terms and we did not look like winning anything. He said Sunderland were doomed last season before a ball was even kicked which I find amazing and that mentality gets around a club pretty quickly when your leader downplays everything.

He did alright for us.

Rooney's last two seasons playing for us.

Just saying...

Cant agree fully with that. We are quite possibly the best club in the land community wise. They have done a lot we can and should be proud of too.
