David Moyes remained resolute that his squad must be strengthened, although he insisted he was delighted with the three points obtained from The Hawthorns.

Moyes, reflecting on his side’s first away victory of the season, seemed satisfied with his side’s performance.

“With the team I put out, I would have taken that before hand, it was a deserved win in the end for us”

Asked whether James Vaughan turned the game, Moyes continued;

“He completely turned the game, made all the difference. The boy has played no football, after training yesterday I felt there was no choice but to take him, although I felt he wasn’t ready. He’s probably won us the game.

If we get some new players, hopefully we’ll have a good squad, at the moment we have very little to choose from.”

Moyes seemed suitably annoyed that Jack Rodwell’s seemingly legitimate goal was penalised.

“I think it’s a goal, he jumps well, I don’t see hands on shoulders - for me it’s a goal.

It’s lifted us all, we hadn’t played well after the first half, but I thought the second half we improved and to score a couple of goals away from is not easy”

When asked whether new players are likely to appear on the horizon, Moyes said;

“I am sure the names that have been mooted in the press, are the players we are very close to.”

Omg wtf does this mean? Is he being sarcastic? Is he saying that the names in the press are spot on? Does he mean we will sign somebody?

And from what i heard of the game, thank god for James Vaughan, if we can keep him fit and healthy "Hes gonna be like a new signing".

He's a class act for me, the best prospect we have at the club. Yes better than Baxter, Rodwell, Anichebe etc.

I'd start him against Portsmouth, get 60 minutes out of him and then bring Vic on. Yak needs help up there. Someone to do his running and someone to win the headers and mix it up.

Potentially an excellent partnership, it all comes down to Vaughan fitness though, hopefully he can get it right this season and stay clear of injuries.

Moyes said that Vaughan wasn't even in the squad till yesterday, so he's clearly lacking fitness, so i doubt he will start.

Still don't know what's going on. I can't see Moyes saying the kinds of things he's said recently if it wasn't out of his hands (transfers). He never publicly doubts himself.

Moyes still wants to get in 5,6 or 7 players this week according to his interview from skysports. COME ON DAVIE!!

I think its all down to Kenwright ,moyes gave him a list of targets and up to now none have arrived,so what can Moyse say? hardly be good PR to say see the chairman so he just plays it down.:dodgy:
