The ref can stop the game anytime he deems it to be over.

What if he didn't blow the whistle and Van De Sar quickly launched it forward to Berbatov who was unmarked and in on goal in roughly 6 seconds from Jags shooting? Would it of been ok to blow then?

I believed the whistle blew while we still had the ball in our own half just that none of the players heard it under the roar.

He could of played on but he didnt and wasn't wrong to do so. All this complaing just seems like small club syndrome, which apparently we're not.

And what was that quote from Moyes about doing things with dignity and respect here? Thats what Baines done when eh shook the officials hands and walked off while Moyes and the puppet were having their little fit.

no way is complaining small club syndrome- the opposite in fact- man u and the other big money clubs could teach us loads about the art of getting your own way. i hate the way we dont complain enough but moyes is doing the respect thing that was asked of all clubs - have a look how much we dont surround the ref after being shafted and come back and tell us

As people have stated if it was Rooney about to go round Howard at Old Trafford 7 mins into stoppage time, he wouldnt have blown.
But there isnt anything we can do now. Move on!
Im just pleased to see some passion from Moyes and Reach-a-Round that should rub off on the players.

Referee Martin Atkinson appears to have been punished for blowing the final whistle in Saturday’s Everton versus Manchester United match when the Toffees were on the attack.

He was meant to referee Sunderland against Arsenal this weekend, but has now been made fourth official instead.

Everton manager David Moyes has been charged by the FA over his angry outburst at Atkinson at the end of the Toffees’ 3-3 draw against Manchester United .

Moyes and assistant Steve Round approached the referee, shouting at him and waving their arms in rage.

Both face a minimum £8,000 fine if they accept a charge of improper conduct.

Referee Martin Atkinson appears to have been punished for his controversial closure of Saturday's 3-3 draw between Everton and Manchester United.

Everton boss David Moyes went onto the field to berate Atkinson after the official blew the final whistle just as his side - who had recovered for a point by scoring twice in stoppage time - were through on goal with a chance of a winner.

Atkinson's failure to show commonsense seems to have rebounded on him in the latest round of appointments. He has been moved away from the middle and will act as fourth official for Sunderland versus Arsenal.

Another referee at the centre of controversy last weekend also appears to have been grounded.

Stuart Attwell, widely condemned over the harsh dismissal of Bolton's Gary Cahill in their 4-1 defeat at Arsenal, also drops to the bench. Attwell is fourth official for Everton versus Newcastle.

Cahill has appealed to the FA over the ban, as Mirror Sport reported yesterday.

Meanwhile, Howard Webb's position as England's top referee has been confirmed just one game into his comeback.

The World Cup Final referee - who made an impressive return in the 1-1 draw between West Bromwich and Tottenham - has been put in charge of Sunday's clash between Manchester United and Liverpool.

You do realise that is a load of tosh right? Ref's don't get to be the man in the middle every game, and they all have to be the fourth official....even the top ref Webb has to do it. The FA aren't punishing him, I am willing to put money on it being rotational.

says he was supposed to ref the game.

"Everton manager David Moyes has admitted an improper conduct charge for confronting Martin Atkinson following the draw with Manchester United. Assistant boss Steve Round joined Moyes in remonstrating with Atkinson at full-time and has admitted the same charge"

:dodgy:

Roundy in the background behind Moyes shaking his fist shouting...."yeah....what the boss says....yeah..."
