Surely Moyes needs to sort out the Schedule better..I hear on the grapevine the pre season training is very very intense.. I understand it has to be somewhat that way to get the players back into the swing of things..

I just hope Moyes changes it around this season, we cant afford to have another ****e start like the past few seasons.

He's waiting for their Kenny to get back in touch about how much he's charging this year for his services.

They look knackered every season till xmas, presumably the rigours of what appears an old fashioned boot camp takes that long to wear off.

I looked at Pienaar returning from hardly playing a game at Spurs and he looked 30% better/fitter/faster/sharper than when he was here - COINCIDENCE?

NO - they feed them special sandwiches at spurs - THERE CAN BE NO OTHER EXPLANATION!

....unless

That's because early pre-season consists of running and running... and running... and more running! (n)

Team I used to play for used to do that for pre-season - long runs, short runs, sprints non-stop. We were by far the fittest team in the league, but give us a ball and we didn't have a clue what to do with it. I doubt that is Everton's problem in this day and age though with the amount of money they spend on conditioning coaches etc. I honestly believe its down to getting a good result on the first day of the season. Last year against QPR was a freak, the year before was down to Lescott saga. Lose the first game heads go down, win it and the boys will carry on that way.

Im sure his preseason has nothing to do with the fact we always finish better then every other team - who looked knackered.

I would put our bad starts down to players being unsettled in the window if im honest.

I'd say that is a fair enough point too. I don't understand why if they insist on having a transfer window why they don't close it the day before the first day of the season. I know they say it is to keep us in line with Europe but if they knew the English window closed early the European teams would have to do their business by then too.

So the logic here is that we are tired so start the season badly ...
and as the season goes on and we get more tired why do we play blinders???

Think Neilers got it spot on here.
Look what happened in January , 4 in and 2 out.
Gibbo,Pienaar,Jelavic and Donovan (While Here) all changed the season. We lost Arteta and tried our best to soldier on and it wernt happening. We bring one or two in that can help us and maybe we get a good start. Maybe, Just Maybe.

No mate the point i was making in a sarcy kind of way, was that we finish well and look fitter then everyone while other teams looks knackered - thats all acheived through preseason.

I don't think we start the season right psychologically. We know that we're likely to be fitter than most other teams and because of how we finished the previous season we think we can stroll it. We're too casual. We give away sloppy goals and, because we're so laid back, we leave it too late to start playing with conviction. Jags has said as much before. It's only around Christmas time that we realise the hole we're in and start playing more seriously.

Hopefully we'll be more solid at the back from August because of Johnny there and Jelavic will be able to profit from naivity and over-exuberence by opposition defences in the early weeks of the new season.

I think we need more competitive pre season games and we need to do our transfer business early.

Now we have a striker who knows how to finish maybe the curse of the bad start may now be over!!!

So the other 15 or so teams who start better than us every season aren't unsettled in the transfer window ?

Poor excuse imo, there's only a handful of teams in the entire league who are not selling clubs, so saying that our players produce a poor start to the season because of the transfer window doesn't make sense.

For example in the summer window of 2009 we lost Lescott but brought in three new players with the proceeds, but we were crap until December and at the end of November had 15 points from 14 games played.
