That cricket ground in your city is empty, EMPTY, and you're on here having a go at Everton.

Pfft, some people.

Yes...empty...right...over 240,000 attended the match. I guess they were all at the bar, or in the toilets which had plenty of running water btw...

“I did think that if any team was going to win the game it was going to be us, but I don’t think we really believed we could score the goal,”
It would help if we had a striker playing.

In Moyes defense who do you want him to throw out there? Beckford is OK but probably shouldn't be a regular starter for any prem team. Yak craps the bed every time he's given a chance. Saha at least seems to be trying but its not coming for him either.

I would of thought Moyes would have put Yak & Saha on as their goal scoring record against West Ham is good, and played 4-4-2.

They put Freddie Sears on and we went to pot.

Our 5 midfielders couldn't handle Scott Parker who seemed to be everywhere....you know why.....HEART.

Agreed.

Our strikers (if you don't count Cahill) have scored one goal every 6.3 games. One goal every 6 games!

Honestly, if he played two strikers and they continued at that rate you'd all be moaning about how we need to bench them and get Rodwell (or whomever was left out) on the pitch and play Cahill further forward.

Selling all our strikers (aside from Cahill) for a bag of practice cones would be more "ambitious" than putting two of them on the pitch at the same time.

That said I'd like to see Beckford get a run finally -- Saha and Yak just don't seem interested so I don't see the point in them going out as well so we have to play with 10 men from the start.

I think it would be more fair to work out how many minutes each striker has played, not games. Beckford's had a lot less minutes than the other two, because he's usually brought on very late as a sub, so in reality he's done a lot better than Yak/Saha.

Its obvious Moyes has absolutely no faith whatsoever in his available strikers, however berating their performances is not the way he needs to choose a system, pick a strikeforce and stick with them, working the [Poor language removed] outta them on the training ground - get feckin medieval on them! and all thetime big them up in pre and post match interviews.....Its the only way I can see us turning it around.

Not picking them and ****ging them off is not gonna improve the situation

“I take the argument that Tim does better breaking off a main striker, but we wanted to do something different with Jack Rodwell and Mikel breaking forward in support of Tim. We’ve been looking to try and find a solution to scoring goals – but we didn’t find it tonight.”

What's with the 'we' business? Unless that headsetted-up, nodding dog Round has suddenly started calling the shots with Moyes, that's a bit of a cop out. You get £3M pa for this Moyesie. It's down to you, mate. And I cant believe he's now taking the line that because Cahill is off playing in that bollix tournament for a month the strikers 'need to step up'. He's just humiliated them by leaving them on the bench.

Some of these decisions and statements are Walteresque.

Still, he's not the fundamental problem. We all know where that blame lies. No wonder the shithouse is lying low and letting Moyes deal with the flak.

I agree.

What really made me sit up was Moyes - in a game where he chose to play with no striker - after the game states that he wants his strikers to step up and be counted. GIVE THEM A ******* CHANCE ON THE PITCH THEN DAVID!

We should have won earlier on rather than late on, but the thing is, I don’t think Robert Green had any saves to make really. But I think the approach play was good enough but we just couldn’t find the final ball,”
Isn't Moyes contradicting himself here?

“Tim is third top goalscorer in the Premier League so there’s no problems playing him as a centre forward,”
Yeah, just throw him up forward on his own and he will get you the goals, no worries.

“My best players were midfield players, Rodwell, Arteta, Pienaar and I couldn’t leave one of them out to accommodate one of the strikers as I couldn’t see that happening as my better players were on the pitch.”
OK, so let me get this straight. Moyes decides his starting 11 solely on the basis on who is on form? Hmmm..tactical genius!

“We controlled the game in the second half, apart from the odd breakaway or corner kick,” he continued. “But we are always going to be short as we were playing a right back at centre half, which is something that was going to be hard to get away with, but we did."
We had a young centre-half on the bench. Too bad about the small matter of an own goal. We still got away with it.

“We will definitely look at the loan market and if we were looking that is where we would look,”
What a gem! Kevin Keegan would be proud of this one.

Davie, a bit of advice do not enter for Mastermind.

For me those comments show him as a bit of an a***, nowhere did he mention his role.

He signed those players. For strikers to score it helps if they are playing that at least gives them a chance.

He gave Yak a chance, he overall play was ok and he got off the mark.

He then got benched for Saha who couldn't be less bothered and didn't score yet apparently was awesome in training.

Beckford has 2 goals and i believe had way more chances to score than the other 2. Unfortunatly he is out of his depth so missed most of them.

Beckfords chances came near the end of games when we were pushing for a goal, when we actually went out and tried our best to score one. As opposed to during hsi run at the start of the season where he was starting but we were content to pass the ball about in the midfield but with no cutting edge and just hoped a chance would happen.

He played Saha and Beckford in pre season who looked good.

Its just as much his fault his strikers aren't scoring as it is theirs.

Phil McNulty pointed that out in his blog.

This faultline running through Everton has undermined their campaign and Moyes' lack of trust in his established strikers was betrayed by what many considered a negative team selection.

He left Beckford, Yakubu and Louis Saha on the bench and entrusted striking duties to leading scorer Tim Cahill, almost an admission of defeat against a West Ham team suffering with fragile confidence and an unflattering league placing. If Moyes cannot let his strikers loose with confidence against West Ham, when can he?

Probably against Scunthorpe FFS

Not good news that for Moyes. McNulty is a first rate snide who's always done an Everton boardroom's bidding for them. If he's questioning Moyes' aptitude to do the job you can be sure he's been briefed by someone to cut loose. There'll be no flies on Blue Bill, that's for sure.

What do you mean? McNulty is being used by the board or someone within the club to get this message to Moyes?
