“I did think that if any team was going to win the game it was going to be us, but I don’t think we really believed we could score the goal,”
It would help if we had a striker playing.

We should have won earlier on rather than late on, but the thing is, I don’t think Robert Green had any saves to make really. But I think the approach play was good enough but we just couldn’t find the final ball,”
Isn't Moyes contradicting himself here?

“Tim is third top goalscorer in the Premier League so there’s no problems playing him as a centre forward,”
Yeah, just throw him up forward on his own and he will get you the goals, no worries.

“My best players were midfield players, Rodwell, Arteta, Pienaar and I couldn’t leave one of them out to accommodate one of the strikers as I couldn’t see that happening as my better players were on the pitch.”
OK, so let me get this straight. Moyes decides his starting 11 solely on the basis on who is on form? Hmmm..tactical genius!

“We controlled the game in the second half, apart from the odd breakaway or corner kick,” he continued. “But we are always going to be short as we were playing a right back at centre half, which is something that was going to be hard to get away with, but we did."
We had a young centre-half on the bench. Too bad about the small matter of an own goal. We still got away with it.

“We will definitely look at the loan market and if we were looking that is where we would look,”
What a gem! Kevin Keegan would be proud of this one.

Moyes' post-match comments have confused me as much as his formations and subs, this year.

But like I said, he's got our balls in a vice. Tactically most managers would do better for us, but without Moyes we're screwed mid to long term, as we won't be able to find another manager as savvy with transfers.

Moyes I love you, but why must you keep doing this to us?

I know you're hurting pal. Getting stuffed in the cricket and drawing with the hammers in a game we could and maybe should have won.

Love the blue font. 7/10 for effort.

Reminds me of the LCAB sermon on LCAB, Bally scored a lot of goals didn't he but Catterick didn't put him up front because of it. Plenty of midfielders score a lot of goals but don't play up front.

And that last comment is just astounding it really is, a Sunday league manager wouldn't come out with that crap yet here we are with a Premierleague manager and he does.

That last one was a bit cringeworthy. It's like he thinks it's fantasy football or something.

Its like my mate playing FIFA on the PS3.

He farts around for ages with his team moving players around so he has the 11 highest rated players on the pitch, ignoring the fact a 88 rated centre mid goes down to 76 when played out wide. Whilst a 81 rated wide man is on the bench.

Exactly mate.

It's a team game. Yet again, look at Blackpool. They're 3 points ahead of us, with 2 less played, and there's not a single player in their squad that would get into our team, and only one that might get into our squad. We got 4th with a team filled to the brim with average players. Moyes should know, more than anyone, that it's not the individuals that matter, it's how you fit them together.

the comment about blackpool is spot on from my view. To be entirely honest, that scrappiness and blue collar attitude is why I started following everton (it was a team of all heart and effort) and something I miss dearly about this current team. I saw the old attitude shine through in the game against mancity, and you can see it in how the team celebrated together afterward, but against West Ham today, we were terrible and playing as a bunch of individuals again.

I can see the sense in playing Arteta behind Cahill. We need to get Mikel posing a threat to the opposition. Playing in the hole, he should have as much space and freedom as he needs. It sounds like he didn't really take advantage of it though. Cahill has pretty much been playing as a forward anyway and we've used him there before in emergencies, so it was worth a go.

I'm pleased to see Moyes experimenting. It does sound like it's causing him more headaches than it's resolving though. On the OS he says that we're not beating the first man or choosing the right pass and that's down to personnel rather than formations or tactics.

The game was there to be won. In the radio commentary it said that Baines didn't cross the half way line in the first period and that Cahill was isolated. Greame Sharp asked how we could have five men in midfield against Sears, Kovac, Parker and Boa Morte, yet we still couldn't get a grip of the game. He argued for us to match up 4-4-2 and have a go at them.

Cahill is more potent not being up top. He is a poacher but does better playing off a striker. We have to think 4-4-2 against lesser sides home or away or these draws will bring us down.

There's absolutely no defence for what Moyes did yesterday.

I'm not just needlessly berating Moyes here - the fact is the guy lined up 4-6-0, and made two substitutions in the dying minutes for no reason I can think of other than to waste time to secure a point.

He showed no ambition to grab the game by the scruff and force the win, and was more than happy with a 1-1 - and he's been like this for a long, long time. We only took three points off City by sheer fluke.

I honestly can't see a defence for the man other than pointing at his early years at Everton and how he consolidated us as a solid Premier League team in the last decade.

If he were at any other club he'd be gone without question. We're not only seeing ineffective football - we're seeing boring, ineffective football. And what makes it even worse is that we've actually got a decent squad!

I'd love to for once blame the players and say they're not arsed, just to have a break from having a go at Moyes - but it isn't that. How can I blame them for not scoring when we're not playing a striker?

It is mind-boggling to me how people can still cheer on David Moyes' management... The scary thing is, his negativity used to be limited to any team capable of finishing top eight (which is almost justifiable), but it's spread to whenever we encounter ANY team that hasn't just been promoted to the top flight!

Agree, Moyes insists spoil all the superlatives.
I really appreciate him as a coach, but if it continues this way, we can cry at the end of the season.
