Direct report from a friend - fellow Toffee and Yank

I was at the Globe Pub on tuesday night when Moyes and the players (Cahill, Ossie, Vaughan and Howard) took questions from Everton's PR man (fluffy ones, like "how great is the atmosphere at Goodison on European nights ?") and then from the floor (with no screening process).

The first question from the floor was shouted up by two different people at exactly the same time, "Davey when are you signing your contract ??"

He said that he expects to sign next week but that he wanted to make sure that he had committments from the Club that he would get the support that he needs to carry out his plan before he signed anything.

There was one "controversial" question from the floor midway through this hour long session and that was why did he sell AJ ?
Moyes' response was that AJ wanted to go, this was met with some heckling that some fans in the room had met AJ in Switzerland last week and he said that he didn't want to leave. Moyes gave him the steeley glare and said "well that's your version and I just gave you mine"

There are not too many managers in the Premier League nowadays that would attend a Q and A with fans in a bar and answer any questions that were presented to them on anything. It just goes to show you, if you have nothing to hide you can face anybody ...

What were those nobs heckling for?

AJ asked to leave. Of course AJ's gonna say to fans who ask "yeah I'm stayin". What else he gonna say? "Erm, nah I'm pissed off and I wanna go".

Some fans are clueless sometimes.

Ooooooh.

I'd have hated to be on the receiving end of that.

I wouldn't be surprised if AJ was kind of nudged in the right direction. Sounded like he was maybe put in a bit of an invidious position before the forest match by being told that negotiations with fulham were at an advanced stage. Perhaps it did his head in. Perhaps moyesie wanted to see him come out fighting to stay but he didn't want it enough. Pure speculation on my part of course.

I remember reading the article in the guardian when Moyes mention about people on the web "who havent a clue" when they talked about his tactics, the club etc.

So some fan making out Moyes is lying would be a rather big no-no is his book.

If thats the juicey questions then the fans have missed a great chance to ask some really decent questions, as judging by the answers above Moyes wouldnt shy out of any of them.

lol stupid. AJ wanted to go. get over it. AJ wanted to leave Everton.

I feel sorry for Moyes - having to lie to cover the arses of his employers who cant provide him with transfer funds.

Shameful.

almost everything i read or hear about moyes only serves to increase the respect i have for the guy. we are phenomenally fortunate to have him, imo.
