Moyes, who celebrates 10 years in charge at Goodison Park this month, joined the Toffees on 15 March 2002.

He told the Sunday Express: “Perhaps the suggestion would cause some mayhem.

“People might say it’d be harder to attract players but we have to take responsibility for the long-term health of football.”

The 48-year-old added: “Everyone in the Premier League should take a 20% pay cut to put football finances back on an even keel and allow a significant reduction in ticket prices to make football more affordable for the ordinary fan."

It's job my observation but as footy fans we just buy into stuff , into loving the manager and players and hoping they care back or even feel a little of what we do. We laugh at the RS over the worshipping of players "Torres and YNWA" then leaving or the complete rubbish about dalglish giving his money to the board to spend. Are we any different though we lapped up Rooney and his "once a blue" tshirt so much that some claim he was "forced out" or that he'd come back dropping near £1m a month and I remember being at west ham when barmby scored a hat trick kissed his badge and how much later did he move the RS , with us lot played as fools.

The point of that rant is moyes, I have no problem with him wanting the best for himself (although I feel he mishandled it particularly early on and I'm not alone in that ) and if he moved on I couldn't blame him and certainly not hate him. I am a cynic on football so it might be me being cynical but at least some of it is based on things I believe but if people think moyes wouldn't go to united , arsenal, Chelsea , city and spurs because he loves it here of he was given what many claim "he's asked for" I think they are wrong but it's just an opinion. I do believe he at least wanted to speak to spurs last year and that's from a source I believe and his non committal comments during the European championships I believe back that up.

If moyes stays and wants to be here and commits then I'll be happy with that or if he leaves I totally understand why he would , I don't particulalry want him here because 'nobody else wants him' but I'll certainly give him the benefit of the doubt . It's just football has a habit of showing us how wrong we are when we put our trust in someone, the reality is though I don't believe personally that any of those five clubs above are remotely interested in him so it's something we may never find out .

By that logic we should cut the wages of every single one of our players too, as i'm fairly sure the 5th placed team in the Bundesliga pays far less to theirs than we do to our players.

You can't compare management wages across every league like that, it's meaningless.

Yeah, because Moyes has always driven a hard bargain with the board in the past and got cash out of them.

He's been told what he'll get already. What's going to change between now and the summer substantially on that front? Do you think the board are going to shrug and say, "Ok, Dave, you win. Here's another £10M for the pot"?

He's waiting to the last minute to see what's out there. TBH, I dont blame him. He's taken it every which way from this board for 11 years. I'm sure he feels he's earned the right to wait and see if an offer comes along whilst he's still free to frig off for no compensation to his potential new employers.

Yeah but I would say things are very different this summer. Where in the past moyes has perhaps seen it as the way it has to be regarding finances, this summer with a potential fellaini sale and the tv money there is definately scope for a transfer windfall for the manager if the board see's fit. At the same time they could decide to not release much for transfers as is there proagitive.

Would you trust the board on there word of what's available and sign a contract waiting on the promise of funds only to not receive anything like what was spoke about??

Maybe they have already told him there is only a little amount available and he's just playing along till season end?? who knows..

Moyes will eek it out to the death waiting to see if a club comes in for him. He hasn't run down that contract for no reason. The summer months is what he's fought tooth and nail for regarding arriving at a decision. He's not going to come out the day after the Chelsea game and state what's happening. That day marks the beginning of the process.

We'll end up with a drawn out pre-season and another threadbare squad if we're not careful.

This is also how I see events panning out.

Hope I'm wrong.

Whatever his decision, what is best for the club is for the matter to be rectified asap.
