Moyes Contract Debacle...

Player Valuation: £70m
Well it seems according to some that Moyes is very close to a new £12m contract and a £25m budget. Now I'm all in a twist because the paper involved is high on my list of integrity, but then it mentions that we are looking at a striker as our priority, where that is clearly not the case.

But let's get back to that. The Times are the paper in question:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/article4193324.ece

I was around 80% sure Moyes was going to sign his contract, that has now gone up to around 90%, somebody somewhere knows whats going on, and they know that the Kirkby deal is a goer, Moyes is going to sign a very attractive contract, and will have a decent budget to buy 3 or 4 players.

Now if we look at the squad, and I'm not going to list them here, but we know who we have and where are strengths are. We need midfielders, we don't need defenders, we don't need strikers and we don't need keepers really. So depending on whether or not we retain Arteta we are going to need to sign 3 - 4 new midfielders, and I would say at least one of them is going to be a regular (to replace Cars).

We can also add into the squad the likes of Rodwell, Kissock and Gosling. That's 3 very exciting young players, we already have Arteta, Pienaar, Osman, dare I say it VDM (who is just a bad smell and won't go away), maybe one last chance - who knows. It would be a major shock if he got his [Poor language removed] together, but a nice one. We also have Cahill, and Neville. So add players like Huddlestone, Sidwell, and perhaps Fernandes. Those 3 would cost about £15m - which would leave Moyes with a decent amount to play with to add numbers. Maybe even a couple of loan signings.

Moyes apparently is on holiday, so I expect as soon as the Euro's are over, its going to get a bit heated on here. Danny/Dylan I hope the server can cope with it, because I got sick of going to Blue Kipper's splash page - Internal System Error!!!!

I'm liking your post's of late mate.

Fully agree here.

25 million will do for me. Unless we sell AJ and around 30 million will become available.

Cheers mate. :)

Yeah, AJ going will result in some cash spare, but I would expect us to spend the same or more to replace AJ. And as its not really an area we are struggling with I would like to see us work on the midfield.

I think moyes will sign too.

the question is what does 25 million get you these days ?

lets just say for arguments sake the club are serious about a world class signing , ie arshavin .

well his capture would make 1 striker move down the pecking order ie aj
it would also make a huge dent in the wallet and we would still be left with the important job of filling carsleys shoes in mdfeild (and a least 1 more midfeilder imo) .

maybe this is why the aj leaving rumour may have some legs.

we will have our world class signing , the attack will be improoved (unnecassarily perhaps) and we will still have enough cash for the much needed 2 midfeilders.

I actually think the ever increasingly unlikely even of Arshavin signing would spell more competition for Cahill than AJ.

you know what ? i think your right.

I agree with both. The big thing is to decide how will the team play.

Will we play with 5 in the middle of the park? honestly I don't see us playing with five when Cahill plays behind the striker. I don't think of him as typical att mid.

All the great teams who play 451 have a great number 10...France had Zidane, Russia has Arshavin, Portugal has Deco.

Arteta is more like those players than Cahill is.

So if we get a player like Arshavin, which I think we won't, Cahill would be the one with his place in danger.

If we don't sign the rusky Cahill maybe the man, although I think Arteta is the best Att Mid in the squad.

If we can get Bent for 8 million then it would be a superb piece of business. I like AJ but Bent would be a step up.

I'd like to bring in at least 3 midfielders, Fernandes, Huddletone and a bruiser. Maybe a winger too but i think we have our wingers in Pienaar and Arteta sorted.

Obviously a replacement goalie unless Moyes feels Ruddy is up to it, i think he is but i'm not sure if Moyes does.

Maybe a back up defender although i'm not sure how many defenders will come here to sit on the bench.

Well I also think Ruddy is good enough, but I don't think we need anymore defenders, unless any of the ones we have now go - which I think will more than likely be Valente. But then we already have two other left backs, plus we also have Rodwell, Irving and Gosling.

Nuno hasn't signed his new contract yet has he? I spect he will when he returns to pre season training.

True, Gosling and Rodwell look likely to play some part this season.

Nuno Valente is finished. He's 34 and very injury prone.

But Ghost is right. We should look inside and find talent in youth.

Look at West Ham, they've brought up Carrick, Cole, Lampard, Defoe...

And at this present time, we have better ability to allow them into the first team and we can hang on to them. Imagine Rooney had only showed up now. We would keep him and build around him. We'd have a better chance of getting up there where we belong.

Now is the time for prospection within the country.

just had to pop back in and mention 2 rumours ive just read about moyes contract.

rumour 1. quiroz is leaving utd for portugal. moyes is being offered the number 2 job at utd again and will be promissed fergusons job when he leaves. moyes is considering the offer due to the financial concerns raised about the kirkby move . leaving us up [Poor language removed] creak

rumour 2. arshavin was signed a month ago but didnt want it announced till the euro's had finished. the club will anounce his signing and moyes contract signing at the same time to maximize the statement of intent.

ones really good , ones really bad , both are bs.
