Moyes An His Contract.....

Alright, I'm convinced. Bye bye Davey Moyes, welcome Roberto Martinez.

How long before we're in the CL you reckon?

I'm afraid he's been short listed by Chelsea so we've got no chance - quite odd given Moyes is virtually out of contract - wonder why Chelsea appear to be joining spurs in ignoring Moyes yet Martinez attracts Villa, Liverpool and now Chelsea.

Think I know but don't want to cause an argument so I'll leave it.

......shortlisted by Chelsea and Man City according to gossip columns this morning but a key issue for me is the overall measure of control Moyes has at EFC. Apparently he even selects the brands of toilet paper, can't see how he could work at Clubs who don't consult over who they purchase and also want a say in who is in the team.

Spot on article where would DM get absolute control from a chairman like BK who just turns up on a SAT at kick off time????
He gets paid hadsomely, & beleive you me no man is bigger than EFC if DM does decide to take a dabble with a bigger club then good luck to him!
He will have to decide soon to sign his contract - he moaned about a player not being loyal like Lescott ??? so either sign your contract soon & give the club a chance to look for a replacement no one is bigger than EFC, a good manager or not!

I've got a lot of respect for swansea, in the way that they lost their manager who was supposed to be the genius behind it all and got michael laudrup in who has taken them on a level and looks like a brilliant manager and a perfect fit for them.

In contrast, if Moyesie did get enticed away by chelsea or whoever I can see the board replacing him with an owen coyle and we get to see 5 years of the new manager dismantling all moyesies good work. Selling our best and bringing in rank average kack

Any new manager has a 99% chance of doing worse than Moyes.

This isn't just me plucking stats from the air it is based on fact. When the league finishing position of every club in the Premier League era is compared to the clubs wage bill there is an almost exact correlation. Only two clubs have outperfomed their wage bill to any statistically significant effect. Bolton under Big Sam and Everton under Moyes. For every other club you could have had any one manager and it would have made no difference to where they finished.

To say Moyes has "achieved zero" is really just nonsense. He has taken a club who had finished in the top half of the league once in the previous decade to one who has finished outside the top 8 just twice. This has enabled us to watch the likes of Fellaini and Baines.

We've won the 5th most amount of point of any team in his time in charge.

In short, losing Moyes will be a disaster for this club.

But we have no idea that a new manager would do worse than Moyes. We really don't know. Don't get me wrong I like Moyes but if you think finishing in the top half is achieving something it says more about your expectations than mine.

Having us regularly competing for European football, and even CONTEMPLATING a CL spot is accomplishing something. It's a minor bloody miracle when you take into account the financial restraints we operate under, compared to those we're competing against for league placings.

I'd love to have won a trophy under Moyes. We were < 90mins away once and within 2 games another couple of times, so it's hardly massive margins we're talking about.

But to say he's achieved zero is ridiculous.

Moyes has won nothing but achieved a lot in taking relegation candidates to a top 6 club with financial constraints. I do feel he will leave at the end of the season, as I think he would have signed a new contract by now if he was staying as it would boost the club and players at a time we need it ( after a poor window)

If he said he was going, our season would lose momentum, see the Redknapp effect last season at Spurs.

When people talk about him not going elsewhere because he has control here I disagree, if he had the choice of winning the league with less control or fighting for top 6 with full control, I think he'd go IMO

Again it's down to what you define an achievement as. He's won nothing in over a decade, any other manager at a side competing for CL places would not last a decade without winning anything.

He's left his contract run right down before resigning before though hasn't he? Then somehow got the board to fund the Fellaini transfer not long after. I think its far more likely that he's doing this again, letting it run down so he can concentrate on our season & at the same time play hardball with the board over cash for transfers in the summer.

Arsenal? whats it been, 8 years?
Plus you cant say we've been competing for CL for 10 years. More like 2 or 3

You can't make that statement, because there isn't another club where the manager has in large part been responsible for building a club (back) into contenders at the right end of the table, under the constraints Moyes has had. He's done a phenomenal job.

Yes we haven't got silverware in his time here, but if you look at our club on 13th March 2002, and compare it to now, only a fool could say he "hasn't achieved anything".

Any other Manager EXPECTING to compete for CL places would have been given a lot more than 5.6m NET over 11 Years.

He shouldn't be letting his contract run down to the last year let alone the last few months of the season it looks **** to the rank and file - no wonder the boos are starting.
