Mourinho to Man Utd

I have no problem admitting I'm jealous. Let's face it, if Everton had hired Mourinho, this forum, and Evertonians all over the world would be jumping around and going batshit crazy. We'd be jumping in the streets and making posters and banners to hang from every street corner. It'd be incredible. I know it's human nature to downplay these things and take the attitude of "He's in decline anyway" or "so what? Never wanted him anyway" but we all know he'll be a big success at United, regardless of how short-lived it is. The man has been a success everywhere he's gone.

I hope Everton can find the next Simone, or Guardiola, or Klopp, or hell, even the next Mourinho! There have to be some unknown coaches working in football that have the potential to reach the highest levels? I'd certainly prefer to take a chance on someone unknown than go for the proven losers like Moyes or Steve Bruce etc.

This is going to end badly as he is a manager for the short term and it lasts as long as his players start getting mentally drained by the seige mentality also physically they will be drained by him playing the same 11 players repeatedly.Halfway through the 2nd season the cracks will appear, whispers of trianing ground clashes and whatnot and Mourinho will start showing the strain in press conferance and talking about conspiracies and moles.3rd season he will have gone around November with his position is untenable and Giggs will take over and the club will be worse off than ever since Fergie left.

All this 'the United way' that they crucified Moyes and LVG with proved a load of rubbish then. United want back into the top 4 and they'll sacrifice all those so called beliefs to get there.

Real shame. I'm still disappointed really.
He could have changed the image of our club in a day.

Smacks of shortism by United, can anyone actually believe he will be there for over 3 seasons, seems like a panic move because City have got Pep, Chelsea with Conte and the RS have Klopp.

They were murmurings that Bobby Charlton was totally against Mourinho getting the job, looks like the stand named after him a few months ago was the sweetener in return for getting Mourinho.

The league is mightly strong now,the new tv deal and some class managers in the league and about 7-8 clubs who can easily spend 150 million this summer with FFP not being a concern.

I predict it will go belly up but after 3 seasons,Everytime Pep is above him in the league he will throw the dummy out blaming the media the players and evil forces at the club undermining him, also the fans will be sick of his watching paint dry football as they are brought up watching the swashbuckling attacking style, and the players will be bored of having to be constantly drilled for the said awful football.

Mourinho is a short term manager and it will be the same at OT,he's not one for building legacies.

Emery should be the choice now.
Who stays anywhere more than 3 years anyway ?

He was at the training ground today. Had to say Hi to Bobby Charlton who doesn't want him here! (He wants Moyes or Giggs)

Looks like we are buying Kostas Manolas and Ibrahimovic...apart from that I'm unsure. I read some Rawk and Klopp is somehow already above Mourinho. I hope he buries them!

A totally different era and a different set of circumstances and characters but United's downward trajectory in the post Ferguson era is very reminiscent of what happened when Busby left.

Managerial upheaval on a regular basis after decades of stability in that department resulted in a deterioration of fortune on the pitch.

It was twenty years befire they became a major power again after that.

I can't see a repeat of relegation from the top flight this time, unfortunately, but relegation from the Champions League is the modern day equivalent for them.

I have a feeling that Mourinho sees this appointment as his last big one. He is going to attempt a legacy a la SAF. The last Chelsea episode will have (finally) taught him humility.

Great appointment for the richest club in the world.

I don't like Manure...but I don't put my head in the sand regarding their global cachet.

I suspect Mourinho won't either...he'll subordinate ego to that greater reality.

Hate to say it, but I think United will again be a significant force to be reckoned with.

Now... about Everton....

They appear to, as a club, be going all out to give him all the tools to dominate again for a sustained period.
While initially I didn't feel it was a good fit for both him and the club, it appears that once again I am in a state of acquiesce.

And then there is Everton...

Now there's thing I thought I'd never see...a sentence about Mourinho that contains the words 'Taught him Humility' and 'Subordinate Ego'

It's never going to happen...oh he might do well, he might even stay for more than 2 or 3 seasons.

Mourihno is ALL about Ego and nothing about Humility...always was.

Manolas is pure quality and will probably take the captains armband in the future.

I hope Mourinho destroys Pep....
