As highlighted on football365, was anyone else annoyed at the BBC analysis of our match. Shearer just seemed to be measuring the distance of the assist for 3 of our goals. You never see him measure in meters one of Gerrards 'searching passes'. b)

There was some lovely footy played yesterday. It was a shame to the un-trained eye we only apparently played hoof ball.

A couple more performances like that and the BEEB will grudingly have to change it's stance on the uncultured football it thinks is played everywhere except the 'big four'.

dont worry we'v never had any good press from the likes of the bbc, even when we won everything in84/85/86/87 etc. it will never change. by the way mr shearer how many trophys did you win?????? tosser, waste of a career

The BBC won't change. Sky's coverage is much more enjoyable (and usually less red shites). We score 7 and it's appalling Sunderland defending. We should almost be grateful we weren't on last

I'm still amazed that we scored 7 goals at the weekend without one single Arteta assist. It didn't really help my fantasy team, although the fact that I brought in Cahill did. :D

Yeah I too have been amazed how the media have picked up on things like how poor sunderland were or how we played long balls to score. Absolutely incredible. When we finished fourth everyone claimed we were "punching above our weight".

On Goals on Sunday, when they asked Paul Jewell, "Can Everton break into the top 4 and qualify for the champions league?", he answered with an "No" as if to say, 'are you [Poor language removed] serious?'. He then went on to say that the top four are light years ahead. With this knowledge of football no wonder he's out of work.

Can I point out to the idoiot Jewell, that one of the "top four" are two points behind man city and in 5th place and are only 4 points above us. Hardly light years ahead.

Now i'm the first to get the hump at MOTD normally - paticularly that gimp lawrenson - and maybe i was too happy to care, but i didn't think the BBC coverage was that negative. Pretty hard to be disparaging when youve just tonked them 7-1

I think the long ball issue was more to point out how much time sunderland actually had to get their act together rather than criticising our style of play. And the sunderland defending was pretty criminal at times - both for the long balls, and not closing Osman and Johnson down a bit for their goals...

There was plenty of plaudits for arteta, cahill and yakubu, and even an honorable mention for neon leon wasnt there?

I'm looking forward to watching it again on video though so reserve the right to be sensitive now i've calmed down

Any one else notice a bit of a smirk on ray Stubbs' face while he was talking about the result? Is he a Blue?

You are absolutely right. (y) That is what they were doing, but it just made us look like a long ball team. There was no analysis of our neat passing.

Kopite **** !!!!!!! Sort your [Poor language removed] hair out

Talk about bias what's wrong with long passes or crosses that is inch perfect, hoof ball coz we are the one doing it, it's a perfect pass or cross if Beckham is doing it or one of the top 4 team player doing it!

I went and download the match itself and watch through it and they were saying Sunderland played badly, there defence did badly, I think that's not the case, they came out strongly in the 1st and 2nd half and have quite alot of the possession!

It is not there defence that played badly, not at all it was our player out-class them we had them on our palm as soon as we figure out there game plan, and we weren't scoring against a team given up the game, Sunderland never gave up coming back into the game even when they were 5:1 behind!

They only conceded 22 goals before playing us not exactly the worst defence team in the Premier League this season, if it was so easy to break down there defence why didn't other top half team get 7~8 goals pass them!

This is what I'm talking about. In the prem we are second top scorers at home and second top scorers away!!!!

And overall in the league.... yep you guessed it. we are second top scorers overall. So please MOTD a bit more respect for this attacking team!!!

Everton were move up the ratings to a longer slot so they could fit all the goals in.

Four Everton players in Garth Crooks team of the week
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/shared/spl/hi/football/squad_selector/team_of_the_week/html/ss_team.stm

"Everton delivered a dazzling attacking exhibition to destroy Sunderland." -Headlines on the BBC sport website.

You cant talk about a match on national TV and not talk about what the losing team should have done better. And the fact is they should have defended against the long balls better. And they should have closed down better.

But you are right, if it was Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool the pundits would be creaming their collective knickers about it.
