Out:
Fellaini (28m)
Anichebe (6m)

Total: 34m

In
McCarthy (13m)
Barry (loan, 3m)
Lukaku (loan, 3m?)
Robles (1m)
Kone (5m)
Alcaraz (free)

Total: 25m

The Kone money was from the Leroy Fer deal that never happened and no one actually knows how much Barry and Lukaku have cost but it's unlikely to be more than that, either way, Bobby should have about 10m to spend in Jan and the summer and that's a conservative estimate taking into consideration agents fees, signing on fees, etc.

I know it's a gross over-simplification, but all we need is one great season, to get us fourth. It could be this season.

Think of it this way: if loan signings help us finish fourth, then we've won. We've changed the game. Then we can afford to buy this talent.

If we have the temerity to finish 4th there will be "calls" to reform the loan system from certain quarters

I don't want to entertain this same tired way of thinking, it's exactly what the media said when they dubbed us "plucky Everton punching above their weight"

We can't take pride in our lack of spending when things go well and simultaneously rue it when things aren't working out.

I think it's time we look at our achievements for what they are. We're a top club competing for a champions league spot just like our rivals. How much we spent to get into this situation is irrelevant to me. There's no trophy given to the team that spends the least

When Lukaku, Barry and Duelofue head home and we realize we actually have a much lighter squad than we thought, it may not be quite so positive and our massive negative spend last season will be questioned..
But right now.. yeah, I love that we are rivals to all, and they need near unlimited funds to achieve parity with us.

When they go (which Barry definitely won't do, and the other two may not either in reality) the manager brings in the next two or three....it gives him the opportunity to take a few gambles without risking money we haven't got to waste. Loans suit a Club with finances like ours.....Moyes made a few great deals that emanated from loans to start with.
