Money or Football

Waddy

Player Valuation: £6m
Just looking at the footy results during today and noticed again that Lescott was on the bench for City.
Now yeah, he went for the cash, we all know that and we did VERY well out of the deal too. So the club couldnt complain really.

Now when the player gets to the new club, collects his new bulky pay pack...then gets injured...then they bring in far better players and he gets benched. Do you think regret comes into play at all?

Lescott was a great player at Everton, he was on the verge of getting a regular place in the national squad, now he is playing 2nd/3rd fiddle to other players at City.

Or is he quite happy to take his 100k a week and see out his contract and not have a care in the world? Its not like he will ever have to work after football or anything. I dont know...is it just the money for these players?

The exact same thing is going to happen with Peanuts too at Spurs or which ever club he goes too.

I will be ****ged off for this but if i was happy and wanted where i was and collecting a decent wage i wouldnt be moving some things are more important than money.

Its true.

THE GRASS IS NOT ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE.

AND THE MONEY ISN'T ALWAYS GREENER EITHER.

Depends what you want and where your aspirations lie....a good wage to live off for the rest of your life. Or football.

Im sure Lescott always thought he was gonna play for them regularly, after all they did hunt him for months. But with the amount of money they can spend, he'll always have been looking over his shoulder when the better players turn up.

BUT - Its the Wayne Bridge syndrome. He's been getting a fortune for the past 8 years or less and playing hardly any football. He's happy with that.

And to be fair...its a job at the end of the day. If someone's willing to pay you a lot of money to sit off...Id take it.

I reckon it's a bit of both. You want to be happy playing your football to a high level in comfortable surroundings but obviously you want to see that you're getting wedged off.

That beaut was all about the wedge and condescended us when he left, so he can do one.

He's obviously really arsed by the above comments.

Sure he's not a guaranteed starter but he has been playing but has been injured a fair bit.

Its not like he has been glued to the bench counting his money.

And lets face it, they are challenging for the title and still Europe. We ain't.

He's second fiddle to Kompany, Toure even Boetang who can play center half. He came on today and gave a peno away (hehe).

Not arsed about him, Citeh can win all they want...but it wont be down to Lescott who a commentator said he could go on loan in the window.

To be honest, the day his transfer went through i put on my facebook page, "say goodbye to your england career loser". I was a bit bitter but I did believe that alot of players do very well with us and then decline when they leave. Watch steven pienaars career nosedive. Barmby, Xavier, AJ, Jeffers, I'm sure you guys can think of more...

p.s. Rooney promised more than he's actually delivered at Man U.

I'm fairly sure he would have had enough money to see him through if he'd played his carreer out at Everton. We're not talking about a move from a struggling league two team up to an elite premier league club. so that choice wasn't really necessary.
I personally would prefer to be playing regular footie at a club were I was apreciated and loved by the fans (was a time when Lescott was my favourite Everton player) and earning a good enough wage to live wonderfully well when I hung up my boots than double or triple my money at some nouveau riche club. I can understand the lure of an historic foreign club like Madrid, Barça, Milan etc. Or even just fancying testing yourself abroad. The question of wether he thought he could win more stuff at City is another story

i reckon he'd do much better on the field if he stopped nailing tarts :P

I just hope we aren't just being a conduit for finding gems and then getting good value for them.

Lescott doesn't seem to be enjoying his game these days another penalty call against him means he is a tich off his game.

I don't feel that angry about City being genuine title contenders nowadays because he's nowhere near their squad most of the time.
