The fact he wasn’t back for the first day of preseason would suggest he’s off. If we get good money for him I’m not too bothered. Seems like he doesn’t want to be here and that’s absolutely fair enough.

Happy to have him back if he wants to play for us, happy for him to move on if not. He’s never spoken badly about us. Good luck to him whatever
Tbf, Allan and Doucoure weren’t there either. Neither was Bernard.
Not all players were due back (for whatever reason - could quite easily be quarantine stuff)

But yeah, he’ll be off.

It would be novel to get our money back on a player!

How many £20+ million players have left for nothing in the last few years?

Walcott
Schneiderlin
Bolaise

I also assume Tosun and Gbamin will leave for nothing.
McCarthy and Niasse. Not £20m but close. Were bought a lot early than those lot above.

It would be very Marcel Brands to not be able to ship out a 21 year old who’s already had a successful loan spell at the richest club on the planet permanently for a decent fee.

…to be fair, it was a decent bit of business to send him on loan to PSG.

The current situation might not be quite as straightforward as you suggest. The player has to agree to any move & from what I’ve seen he’s made it clear he’s only interested in staying at PSG. PSG are clearly aware of that & could be digging their feet in.

It wont be a great loss to them if he’s back training with us next week. Not the easiest situation for Brands to negotiate.

The point is more that PSG can clearly afford him, he clearly wants to go there, yet Brands is struggling to sell him. It doesn’t seem like it would be a difficult deal to make happen, but PSG clearly know we’re mugs and will just loan him out for the next 3 years with them saving a fortune and still getting the player.

…Brands only option is to force PSGs hand but they might not be overly bothered, especially if they are bring a player like Messi in. Sure, they can afford Kean but they might not be desperate to have him.

Unless another interested team comes in we have no real leverage to force their hand. If we’re lucky they’ll blink first and offer a perm deal or at the very least an obligation at the end of the loan, but if not and we’re stubborn as you suggest then we’re stuck with a player who either doesn’t want to play for us or the manager doesn’t fancy (assuming one of those because I doubt a transfer would be being discussed at this stage of a new manager’s tenure unless Kean staying wasn’t viable).

If we sold him last summer ,when he wanted to go, we would of just about got our money back, if we were lucky.
When we do sell him, wether it be this summer or next summer, we will make at least £20m profit on the kid

The problem with PSG is probably that they cannot afford to buy MK due to FFP. They just got through the previous investigation after spending upwards of half a billion, was it, on Mbappe and Neymar and seem to have a focus on free agents, loans, and players approaching the end of their contracts.
