I follow football to regulate excess serotonin.
Pitchers and catchers report today for my Chicago Cubs, so it must be time to start a new thread. Getcher Cracker Jacks and peanuts, maybe a brew or a frostie malt and confine your gloats and moans to this space for the season to come.

Play Ball!

Mickey Mantle was a very good golfer, but we weren't allowed to play golf during the season; only at spring training. Yogi Berra

I hate the cursed Oriole fundamentals... I've been doing them since 1964. I do them in my sleep. I hate spring training. Jim Palmer

It's the fans that need spring training. You gotta get 'em interested. Wake 'em up and let 'em know that their season is coming, the good times are gonna roll. Harry Caray

Let's go Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim or is it Southern California or is it Republic of California! God I hate the owners for changing their name!!!

Funny thing is their name now is "the the angels of Anaheim". Given that Los Angeles is the angels in English.

It was bad enough when they were in LA originally that they were LA angels or the angels angels.

Not much thinking went into their name originally i suspect.

Actually when they were the California Angels that made the most sense haha!

I know, right?? They alienated the rest of their CA fan base by changing it from California Angels! Smh

Yeah it was pretty stupid to go with California Angels. It hasn't worked with any team that tried that.

Would have made more sense just to leave it be at Anaheim Angels.

Speaking of them they have this older lady who stands in the car park and guards the Umpires vehicles. She has been doing it for 20 plus years apparently. Nice lady.

The Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks say hello.

In other developments, or lack thereof, nobody's making a move yet on Machado or Harper. I guess teams are finally starting to get sick of doling out eye-watering contracts over stupidly long terms -- sign someone to a 10-year deal for $300 mill at the age of 28 and you're still paying an average of $30 mill for a 38-year-old. Idiotic. Players will say it's collusion, qu'elle surprise.

Ah. Yeah, I guess the Dodgers, Padres, Giants and A's might have a beef. And I agree the Anaheim Angels has a better ring to it than the Los Angeles Angels; the latter almost sounds like one is stuttering.

Yep in every sport that has teams in California there has been at least one team who tried it or talked about it but the other teams because this state is so big took issue with it.

The Chargers actually toyed with the idea when decising to leave San Diego so to try keep their loyal fans on board until they were laughed at. It only made it worse haha

The Golden State Warriors caused a stir many moons ago when they tried it also

Should have gone with the Golden Gate Warriors. Would have worked fine.

When the padres formally spoke with Harper i was really surprised especially after they had announced they would not make the same mistakes as previous season blowing their budget on one player. Especially when their farm is looking good.
