Missing Games

*Just to put it out there from the off this isn't an anti Everton/Board/Kenwright/Martinez thread.*

I'm missing the Sunderland game tomorrow, decided to go somewhere with my little lad instead. This is the third match I will miss thus far this season and I'm not even bothered.

Prior to this season I haven't missed a game in years. This year (and most of last year) I have just been ambivalent.

Anyone else done this/feel like this? Or Am I on my own and acting like a pyar bad kopite?

It's called life mate. Everton's always part of it, but at certain times in your life other things ( family, money, geographry, work, enthusiasm, whatever ) get in the way. Some people will have gone to every home game for seventy years, others enthusiasm will ebb and flow.

Look back at the attendances from our recent past and you'll soon see that plenty of Blues have decided to stay away for one reason or another, doesn't make them any less of a Blue. Just be thankful you're close enough to be able to make the choice. Without wishing to sound like Chico, I've lived and worked abroad and there've been times when I'd have killed just to get to Goodison. Equally, there've been times when I'd have killed to get out of the bloody place when we've been awful.

Missing tomorrow too....and Villa at home which means I can't get to see us for all of November and that really pees me off. Flying to the States for work tomorrow and South Africa for Work on 21st. Only missed around 4-5 home games in 30-odd years....work has a lot to answer for.

But if you don't like it, then don't go. Simple as.

I went home and away religiously for about a decade from 85 til I joined up in 95, then being away meant I could only go sporadically. I hated missing out, but just got used to it.

I still make sure i go up a few times a season, and always do all the Eurooean away trips (I'm addicted to travel!) but have lost 99% of the buzz for premier league football now. Hugely over-rated, cringe-worthily over-hyped and ridiculously over-priced: it's nowhere near worth the financial outlay.

I was at Havant & Waterlooville v St Albans in the Conference South today. £12 in, free parking and I felt 'part' of the occasion. I've been traipsing around non-league and loads of classic European venues for a good few years now, and it gives me the buzz I used to get travelling with Everton years ago.

And it also makes me really appreciate Goodison whenever I do go back.

I haven't been Goodison since Porto last pre season, I can easily afford it and it's less than 35 mins away.

I also held multiple season tickets under Moyes and Smith also in 07/08 I only missed 3 games.

Martinez that.
I value anything you say about Everton as zero

There are so many Blues out there who would love to be able to attend games as financially it didn't matter on thier day to day life, sadly they can't attend as they don't have the finances to.

No doubt if RM turned things round you would be back on the bandwagon

Typical glory hunting Kopite

Family always comes first

I'm by no means fan of the year but I generally get to a lot of home games and a few aways a year. I think the main thing is that I am part of a group that goes regularly. To be honest (and I have gone on my own before) it's as much going with mates and making a day out of it that counts more than form/league position.

I would give anything to go to a game.

Can I trade lives with you @StuBarlow ?

#PlasticSupport

Where are you from mate ?

If geography gets in the way then it probably colours your view a bit. I can't speak for the OP, but, in the not so ancient past, I've swerved going to games because of family reasons ( both kids and aging parents ) at times when, if we'd been playing some decent footie, I might have made more of an effort.

Everyone's priorities are different. In my late teens and early twenties I had no commitments, and had the time and money to follow the team all over the country. As you grow up other stuff gets in the way, which presumably, in your eyes, makes everyone in that situation a crap fan ?
