Minor things that make you happy

I'm north west by Queens Park/ kensal rise. A bit out of the way and not the best area but only takes 30 minutes to get to work and it's by far the nicest house I've seen in London (in my budget).

Haha. It's honestly one of the most annoying things I've had to do! Glad to hear you've found something good. I think I've stumbled on a bit of a gem where I am. My housemates are ace and the area is lovely, it reminds me a lot of the Wirral. You'd never think it was in London if you didn't know where you were.

Also, I was in Chester yesterday. Love the place. Shopping is a much more pleasant experience there than in London, too.
 
The sun being out and one of your squad sending out a WhatsApp about everyone getting a cheeky bit of Mexican food in the sun after work for some top banter and top grub. Wicked.
 

Random guy on the bus falling asleep, being jolted awake by the bus braking.... watching him go into panic mode as he realizes he has missed his stop to get off and him trying to figure out where he is.

after living in Paraguay 10 months, anytime I see a beer other than South American watery lager or the same old imports (Heineken, Miller, Bud - you know, other countries' watery lagers) I grin like an idiot.

hot sauce as well. we get the Tabasco flavors here, but when i spy a bottle of Cholula or Sriracha, i have to fight the urge to weep tears of joy. no joke, i have paid $15us for a bottle of Sriracha here. Might have cost me $3.75 in the US. worth every penny.

some of the locals in my barrio know i like Club Guarani - sort of the Paraguayan Everton only in black and gold. as they've advanced in the Copa Libertadore, the neighborhood guards, the guy at the Cuban cigar bar, the staff at a restaurant I frequent ($10 gets a cut of steak, two sides and a beer) even the farmers that come in once a week and set up a market on my street look at me strolling by, smile a big smile, give me a thumb's up and a "Guarani campeon!" it's not only great to have punch out Brazilian and Argentine Goliaths well above their weight, but to have locals who support other teams cheer on the gringo is pretty awesome. and it's not just humoring me... the Paraguyos are genuinely warm and nice.
