Mikey's Random Matches of the Day

Hello You!

Seeing as there's no togger on the box, I thought I'd post some random match highlights now and then to tide us over

We've got three cracking games today

First up we've got a North West Derby, as Stockport County host Manchester City in a First Division match from the 29th of November 1997

Following that, we're going to have some international action, as England take on Brazil in the 1995 Umbro Cup

And to close us out today we've got a famouus "Demolition Derby" from August 2000, as Celtic hit Rangers for six at Park Head, keep a look out for a certain goal from a certain Swedish feller. It's a belter!

Hope you've enjoyed these. Possibly more to come over the coming weeks ;)

Hello You!

Back again with some more random match highlights

Hopefully we can get past all this and regain some sense of normality

In the meantime though, I'll try and quench your football thirst

First up today we've got some action from the Scottish Cup, as Hibernian and Falkirk play out a sensational seven goal thriller, featuring a fantastic goal from a certain lad what looks like a thumb

Up next, we've got some international superstar soccer on the docket, with Holland taking on Argentina in a wild game from France 1998. Keep a look out for one of the World Cup's greatest goals from a certain Denis The Menace

And to close us out today, we've got a game from the 70's, as George Best shows that he can still play a bit whilst turning out for Fulham against Hereford

Thanks for joining me again on this journey down memory lane!

Hello You!

Oh look, more random match highlights!

I must say, YouTube can be a massive pain in the tuckus sometimes, as there's some great games out there that I can't show to you due to confounded "copyright"

However, I've hopefully sorted out three enjoyable soccer scraps for you to get stuck right into, so let's get the ball rolling (Pun possibly intended)

First up today, we've got some action from the 1982 World Cup, as Hungary give hapless El Salvador the biggest kicking in the tournaments storied history. Forget about the vidi-printer spelling this one out, it probably collapsed into a wirring mess of smoke and flailing wires!

Following that shellacking, we head over to the Midlands, where Birmingham give Aston Villa a stern skelping in The Second City Derby

And to close us out it's action from Serie A, as Inter take on Sampdoria in an epic Title decider, that possibly features some of the best Italian action I've ever seen. This one is so good that it needs to be split into two parts! Genuinely this is a fantastic game that has basically everything you'd want. Drama, action, violence, goals, it's all here!

Thanks again gang. Hope you had fun!

That second city derby was everything you want from a derby match. Pure snide, controversy, pitch invasions and fans going up to players and calling them tossers in their face. Great to see.

Hello You!

Here we go again with some more random match highlights

I've once again perused the vaults of YouTube to try and find some videos that the likes of FIFA or the Premier League haven't spitefully taken down (You'd think in a time of crisis that they'd lay off wouldn't you?)

Let's take a look at what I've sourced for us all this week

Our first match is a battle between Arsenal and Manchester United from February 1997. Arsenal were one season away from taking the Title from Man United, and they showed here that they were going to be a force to be reckoned with in United's future

Next up we've got ourselves a "Battle of Britain", as Aberdeen take on Ipswich in a UEFA Cup match from 1981. Yes, back then both Aberdeen and Ipswich were competing in Europe. It was a different time

And we'll close out today with one of the nastiest World Cup matches ever, as Argentina and Germany stink up the joint in the World Cup Final, with Argentina especially behaving utterly despicably. The best villains in football history? The 1990 side would have to be up there for sure. It's rare that I cheer for Germany, but this was one of those times

I hope you all had fun gang, I'll see you in a bit for more random matches!

That Larsson goal in the OP... you can count on one hand the strikers through history who would even attempt to finish that chance like that. 99999 out of 100000 you go for placement to either of the bottom corners.

These are great Mikey ;)

Great thread. Every day I'll post a boss PL / FL match (non-EFC) from that date in history.

First up, for 23 March, a proper midlands kickabout - Wolves v Brum from 1996:
