Does that mean you agree with me then? b)b)(y)(y):D:D

You probably know, just as well as I do, that is where he learnt his trade(the centre, at Barca) , and apart from some bad career decisions(not Spuds choices, his agents (long story, at Barca)), the info is out there, in between the lines, he was classed far and above his best friends capabilities(Alonso, once again at Barca).

P.S "MIKEL ARTETA = EVERTON CAPTAIN 2009 - 2012

D&D note this post

Well, Arteta was brought under the "Cruyff style" with cultured and skillfull midifielders but not necessarly tough or aggressive.

He comes in a line of succession to Guardiola, as Xavi and now Iniesta are also.

I see him as a different player to Alonso. But putting aside all the rivalry Alonso is a very very good player.

I wouldn't have a doubt to give him a role in the middle in a 3 man at the center. In a 4 man in the middle I'd use him as an inner left midfielder or as a pure center midfield in a diamond formation.

In simple words I agree with you. (y)

That is why he was seen as better, because he was different. Bad career decisions is what has stopped him.

Better designed to the Prem than all his peers. Moyes knew this. I honestly believe the ginger fella is looking for a way to got spud in the centre.

He can resurrect us as we can resurrect him.

I think he knows this and believes in us.

Just to add to your comment about Alonso.

I would love to see Alonso line up alongside Arteta for Everton.

I don't buy that Moyes knew he was better suited to the Prem than his peers, mate. He had a spell at Scotland and he didn't do too bad. So it was a sign he could step in to the EPL.

And I base my statement on the fact that Arteta has never filled the center midfielder position. So I'm not so sure he was considered a prime target or someone people at the club expected to turn top class. I think he had a spell with us on loan, correct me if I'm wrong. But he ended up being a very important player.

His peers...well, I think Xavi Hernandez and Iniesta would clearly play for any EPL team, I don't see him any better than any of these guys.

I rate Arteta very highly, but I don't rate as much as you guys over there. I don't think he should be an automatic spain call up. But still he may be the best we've got... And we have to hang on to that and build around the good things we have.

Santos :P:P:P I mean Sotnas. We are both fighting from the same corner, for the same reasons, and yet we have different opinions, that we both respect.

Let this be a lesson to the rest of the site.

Anyways, I am logging to smoke some /cough and watch Bill Hicks, "Sane Man".

Laters Sotnas, and Laters my toffees.

Take care Sotnas, see you tomorrow no doubt, in one post or another.

Just to add something to this Sotnas. This is just speculation, but Spud was a youth player(playing in the centre) at the same time that Moyes was learning his coaching badges, and spent some time in spain(work experience type thing).

May be just coincidence, or maybe Moyes had the eye from a young age. SAF has said that he knew Moyes would be a good manager after he gave him advice when his career got cut short.

And Moyes has been great for us, hasn't he?

But of course Moyes had to know the lad or maybe some agent brought him to us. But it's like signing Van Nistelrooy and make him play defensive midifielder and he turns out great. :D

But nevertheless, the most important thing is that the lad has done well for us and regardless the position he's been playing he has become a key player for us.

Regarding the Alonso subject, I think you were referring the tight friendship these lads had when they were kids. Dreaming of playing together for Real Sociedad one day.

I'm one of those guys that thinks that a good player is always a good player. Even if he plays for the RS. As long as a RS player has a professional approach and treats us (as a club) in a respectfull manner I'd have no problems about that lad becoming a toffee.

it doesn't matter one bit, last season we never had set positions in midfield, arteta can run the channels but also cut inward

for the time being, since we have baines we can play him central, but once cahill is back i'd like him better on the wing

You two really are talking some sense. I would love to see Alonso playing with Mikel in a diamond formation with Xavi at the base and Mikel at the tip.
