Nice story, but I am more interested in how he ended up in some remote town in Australia.

Maybe when @alan ball sends me his new book, he is interviewed in it.

He moved here after his playing career for work and moved to NSW his wife was the main factor in moving to Aus. Can't remember why and how he ended up in darwin, I think he said that it was after his wife died. He then spent years up here and used to coach the casuarina girls team. I had heard he lived up here and had been waiting every week ( whenever we played our game) to try and hopefully see him. Sure enough one week there was a girls team playing on the pitch before us and I seen a small, old man in the dug out with "trebs" on the back of his top. Went over there and had a chat , was a lovely man and posed for pic and chatted for about 15-20 mins while the game was still going on. Nobody knows him hear and you could see the happiness in his face when I started telling him I remember him from my Everton greatest FA cup victories video. All the Aussies were taking the pizz. Was only after I told them he scored two goals in the cup final that they realised he had actually done something amazing in his life. Really nice man ... I believe he moved to QLD to be with his daughter as his friends and family members have mostly passed on.

Thanks for the information. I'm glad you told him of his past accomplishments that made him smile. He provided a lot of happiness for me and others around that time. He seems to be very humble. Quiet hero to many.

Now that is a boss story. Great stuff ;)

I like that story with a happy ending, remember him at Everton, don't think he played that many games for the Blues, but I
loved the way he enjoyed scoring, not just in the cup final, but any game, he scored at Goodison for the reserves against Aston Villa and ran around the pitch like it was a cup final, he gave us all brilliant memories that afternoon at Wembley
that have lasted down the years and I still get very emotional watching the highlights whenever I see them.

He is still remembered by Everton... darwin is a pretty small place , and when I was out buying furniture in my Everton shirt, the woman in the shop started saying that one of her friends used to play for us. I told her I had already met him and we agreed that he was a lovely man. She went on to say that her son was an Everton fan ( because of Cahill) and that when he went to uk... Trabelcock phoned someone at Everton and said a friend was visiting from Aus... Everton have him two tickets and a tour , free of charge ... just because trebs had phones and asked. Glad that even 50 years on that Everton still remember him .
