We have the best goal scoring attacking mid - Cahill.
We have 2 out injured- Coleman & Gueye.
We have 1 of the most promising - Rodwell.

Look at all of the above - all young and very promising!

We have a 10m player who HAS to step it up - Bily.
We have, arguably, our best midfielder last year - Osman.
PLUS..
We have just added someone with all the attributes, and most importantly, PACE on the left wing. He can beat a player, very skilfull and has brilliant technique -
Royston Drenthe!

But we have so much quality in midfield, even with the losses of Arteta and even Pienaar in January, who were my two favourite players, but hey.

Rodwell is hyped up by the media 'cause he is English. Needs to step and live up to the player that all the papers seem to be raving about.

i do think our midfield has potential but as a unit it aint anywhere near the best the lge has to offer plus the way we play in general is to get the ball up front asap rather than working it thru the middle

We will miss Mikel and no mistake, we have some talented players but no one like him, guile, creativity, play maker, someone who can dictate the pace, some one with the ability to carry the ball/dribble, distrubute, assist and score.

He was a special player - not criticseing any of the other guys as they all have their skills - but Arteta is a huge loss to us.

Give Barkley the central role. The club desperately needs a spark and he's the only player with the skills to replace Arteta. Fellaini and Rodwell are good players, but there different, and it's a key position. Hopefully Royston can provide the width.

We also have a manager who obviously prefers our goalkeeper and defenders to hit the ball over the top of our talented midfield to our isolated centre forward who will have the impossible job of holding the ball up and usually loose possession

Point is, we could have the best midfield players in the word but if our tactics stay the same we will very rarley see how good they are and dominate football matches.

Maybe, just maybe, he could make the role his own.
