2024/25 Michael Keane

It only takes a Tarkowski set back in his rehab and a late sale of Branthwaite and he'll be right back in the starting 11.

He was excellent against Newcastle and Fulham away, but unfortunately thats not the norm. The norm is the likes of when he came on against Man City and the whole back line fell to pieces.

He's just not the type of player who can sit on the bench for 10 games then come in seamlessly when called up. It seems to take him a while (understandably) to get himself up and running, then he needs everything to go right so as not to affect his confidence.

I feel like people forget just how bad he is when he has to start games consistently, our center backs will get injuries, so our 4th choice will get game time, Keane seems like he is a top pro and a good lad but he is just absolutely woeful, a few little games here and there isn't a reason to keep him,

He is a walking disaster more than he is good, he is probably one of the worst defenders we've had that's started more than 100 games, Keane plays, mistakes happen, we concede.

Get rid, and either bring in a experienced head in at center back, or preferably go and sign a young lad who may need a bit of work but could be a diamond in the rough.

If we’re going to accept a mistake ridden no mark. I’d rather we sign a young promising defender who makes mistakes as he learn.
I get this as a general point, think it's worth bearing in mind though that Branthwaite and O'Brien are both relatively young. It stands to reason that you'd want another experienced player along with Tarkowski as back up.

Its the Keane titillation dilemma. He can do it, maybe Moyes can get the best out of him? He'd be a good 4th choice etc.

Starts a run of games... goals against -20. Hmmm.
