This is true. Adding him into the mix is far more destabilising to the entire team than going down to 10 men would be.

I think the pressure of playing for Everton can be underestimated, I suspect a lot of contemporary players think they going to a mid level club only to get here and struggle under the weight of the history and expectation of the fan base.
Appreciate he came through the ranks at Utd but even then when winning the league was expected (almost a given) it will have been a different type of pressure.
Can’t imagine what it must be like to be a player at a club the size of Everton only to sail dangerously close to relegation multiple times, especially if you are a person who actually cares.

I think this happens quite often nowadays. I've seen a fair few interviews with current/ex players who have said something along those lines- they don't realise how big Everton are when they sign, or what a pressure cooker it is to play for us. If your under about 25, then from the outside Everton are a mid table/bottom half premier league side, and they won't understand why we have such high expectations and demands compared to other clubs with similar positions. Some players thrive under the pressure, others wilt. Keane is the latter.

Thats putting it lightly.

He will earn more just this week then many on here will make in even 3 years, let alone 5 years for his 9 weeks pay.

He is going to earn over £720k in the next 68 days. Thats over 20 years earning on the Uk average salary (37k).

Footballer really are paid way too much. Hopefully that’s the end of the club overpaying what are already over the top wages.
