Zouma is very good.
...I think Mina is looking very decent and i’m convinced he and Zouma are our best combination. I’m sure that’s what Silva had in mind. Keane has done very well, I think that’s lots to do with having quality alongside.

I cant believe Keane this season, looks a different player.

Think whatever happens with zouma keane stays...good 3rd choice.

Holgate could be under threat or ask to leave. Amazed hes not kicked on as he looked the first choice going into summer.

Zouma might be a good third choice but I fear he knows he is behind Keane and Mina and might be less willing to sign for that reason.

Why sell someone we can develop to sign someone to develop?

I may be wrong but I think hes been given the 'schneiderlin kiss of death'. Given a few chances at the start of the season and then dropped.

Whilst hes only 22 i do wonder if Brands wont bring in players for the u23s who are expected to push for 1st team roles sooner rather than later.

Think i also read that he wasnt doing well in the u23s but i may be wrong...

I like holgate but its got to be a concern that hes now 4th or even 5th choice.

Think Keane and Mina will be kept on and beyond that is anyones guess...but it doesnt look ideal.

Hes hardly played Zatmania and when he has hes looked a decent player, just cos hes turned 22 you wanna bin him off, shame on you zat.

He’s not been playing CB in the U23’s?

Keane turns like an oil tanker though. He is probably quicker in a straight line. Jagielka was fast without actually being fast...
Agreed. I always feel compelled to make that point though as Keane was clocked at really fast speeds and Sam Dyche always said he was the 2nd fastest player on his team. Pure pace is lovely and all, but certainly not the most important trait for a CB.

I personally was not a fan of Keane's and not in favor of us buying him, but his foot skills in particular are really good. He's getting a pretty good feel with our midfielders and has several times recently passed it by several levels of defenders to help us spring someone.

Bobby Moore had the pace of a highly tuned racing slug, but he was a superb defender, pace isn’t everything lads, a good brain and positional nous will cover any cracks! Keane is proving to be our best defender this season, anyone saying he has a mistake in him is correct, but lets be fair, so do Mina and Zouma?
Mina has elite talent, but he's going to make a clumsy play eventually. He lacks polish, but my lord his upside is high.

...I think Zouma is ahead of Keane, I have no doubt about that but Keane is in the driving seat because he’s in possession of a place. It could be argued that Zouma should be first choice because he’s the ideal partner for the other two because he provides what they lack (genuine pace and powers of recovery).

The problem for Zouma is that he’ll have to be patient but i’m certain Silva has always planned for a Mina/Zouma combination. Keane has surprised everybody.

Shouldn't have been taken out today, barring an injury concern (in which case why was he on the bench).

Had no issues with the other changes (on paper), but you don't fiddle with your defence imo, not when you're trying to come back from that derby defeat.

He has been cutting everything out at the near post recently and it showed for their goal that we missed that.

I mean you gotta have depth, so it’s understandable that Marco gave him a rest. This was the perfect game to give Kurt a run. BUT, I am not surprised in the least that we gave up the goal we did. Keane probably sorts it out

In hindsight was a mistake to not start Keane but i do think Marco underestimated Newcastle.
Without Pickfords blunder, that would of been three straight clean sheets for Mina/Keane, that's our back two, to change that was wrong.
We might of got away with it, but we didn't, Keane needs to come back in against Watford.
