Both have scored an insane number of goals.

R9 is certainly the better athlete of the two. Bigger, stronger, better in the air and just as quick as Messi over distance.
An equally good finisher too.

However, Messi is clearly more of a natural born footballer. His ability to dribble and go past defenders is unreal and he's scored a huge amount of goals by doing so whilst I struggle to think of examples where Ronaldo has ghosted past 3/4 players then rounded the keeper or slotted home. Messi was phenomenally quick on the turn and over the first 5 yards with an amazing deftness when it comes to finishing.

R9 is the old ronaldo. He scored plenty of goals by beating multiple players . Taking it around the keeper was a specialty of his

Ah - I see. Must be my age - I just presumed that it was the usual (Christiano) Ronaldo v Messi debate.

R9 - or The Original Ronaldo as I know him better - was simply the best forward I have ever seen.
He literally had everything - not one weakness in his game. Ahead of his time in terms of the tricks, stepovers etc that people adopted a decade later.
There wouldn't even be a debate if not for those consecutive serious knee injuries

'El Phenomenon' indeed.
