Merging match threads

I understand the need for this to avoid clogging up the forum. And in the case of this last match v Swansea it seems that Mr Ferguson and I posted our threads simultaneously.
However I was surprised to see that my original post had completely disappeared. My name was still there but it was TF's preview next to it.

I don't think it was anything special (though I did spend a bit of time on it) just curious as to why as I've never seen this happen before?
