I was very impressed with Mateusz Taudal yesterday. Considering he's only 17, from another country (Poland) and was making his debut, I thought he was excellent. Granted it was against limited opposition, but he made some excellent saves when called upon. He commanded his box well, and the likes of Distin seemed to trust him.

I know it was only one game, but it was his display at such a young age that was impressive. Given his age, wouldn't it be great if we had our own version of Joe Hart on our hands? Granted, there's a long way to go, but if we sent him out on loan to some lower league clubs to gain experience, he could be ready by the time Howard calls it a day. Howard is 33 now, so probably has maybe 3-5 years left at Premiership level.

Taudal could be one to keep an eye on this season.

Or he could be like the majority of our youth and end up playing in the lower echelons of the football league pyramid.

Yes. I'm a glass half-full person though.(y)

For his age, he looked better than the past few reserve/youth keepers we've had.

The fact we scouted him in Poland, and actually did a deal with MSP Szamotuly to bring him to this country shows he's highly thought of. Goalkeeper is obviously a limited position, clubs don't sign too many. I'd heard he was a good prospect, and he looked it yesterday.

Thread title is way premature. I've not seen the lad play, but he's 17 for chrissake. He'll need a lot of experience, and to prove himself many times, before Moyes can trust him in front of the net in the pressure cauldron of a premiership match. Let's give him a couple of seasons on loan, and see what happens.

He wouldn't be in the development squad if the club staff didn't think on some level the thread title was accurate. Here's hoping.

Mason Springthorpe will never be our #1 for the simple fact that if he and Leighton Baines were ever on the same pitch the entirety of Goodison Park would be sucked into a time vortex Sliders style and we'd be forced to compete against teams from the 1890s for all eternity.

Bring Duncan McLean on FFS Moyles.

Our reserve goalies will never get a game even if Tim breaks both his arms and starts murdering members of Moyes family with a gun held in his mouth.

So frankly who cares about them?
