Casillas didn´t have to make a single save, apart from the penalties. PatrÃcio denied Iniesta a goal.
So I think Portugal did very well but not enough to get away with it.
It's a fact that Spain maybe the best national team in the world even if they are boring. They are better and nature took it's course.
Sad but true, in the end.
I'd like to make a point which I think should open a debate over Everton.
Sporting had 10 players in this competition that came through the ranks. Their names: PatrÃcio, Beto, Moutinho, Veloso, Hugo Viana, Custódio, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Varela and Quaresma.
Everton has a very good academy and I think the future lies in it. We only have to be patient in order to build around some very good youngsters blended with some quality players.
Barkley and Rodds have to be our future. But we need to invest more in youth football and in the means to allow them to step into the first team squad.

As bad as Almeida's shooting was, it seemed that Ronaldo left the game once Oliveira came on. Almeida was working a lot better with Ronaldo. Oliveira cannot pass it seems.
I can't help but think Portugal thought they could win on a single counter-attack, and when they got it Moutinho gave a lame pass. It was 4 on 2!
I dunno what was said in the other countries, but at half-time here in Australia, the SBS panel gave Negredo a hammering. They were in stitches with each-other taking swipes at him.

Boring game, it needed a goal in the worse way. Not sure why Spain was so much more in shape than Portugal at the end. Sadly now that spain is in it I can't see the final winner scoring more than 1 goal.
It is boring as hell but I have to admit its a bit more exciting when Pedro gets in. He always looks to be spain's best or 2nd best player when he actually gets a match. It seems like Pedro and Osman lite are the only 2 who attack the opponents goal for Spain.
Also for a minute or 2 I said to myself well at least they aren't doing simulation and diving so much, well cut to the 70th min when they were in danger of losing and they reverted to their old selves.
Am I missing something about Contreau? I'm sure he's decent but I really don't see anything in his game that would make me want to break the bank for him.

Ah, I must be losing my eyesight if I couldn't pick out those tats of Meireles. Portugal need a class striker. Until then Ronaldo will keep crying. Disappointed they went out, I was rooting for them.
