MATCH THREAD: Greece vs. Czech Republic

Week 1 is done, it's on to round 2. The first of the second round of games includes Mamma Mia v Poborsky, it's Chico v Navratilova, it's Greece v Czech Republic

Brilliantly titled the Group of Debt by our Jock, both teams will be looking for a win after Greece got an opening game draw against Poland and the Czech's lost heavily to Russia

If you know any of the Greek team other than Samaras, you need to spend some time outside, the remainder of their squad is highly unpronounceable (is that even a word, oh the irony) for the likes of me, so I'm going to put it out there and say they will start with the same XI, but will replace that defender who was ridiculously neg repped for 2 yellows in their first game

As for the Czech's, they'll really need to push for a win here, which could see them falling right into the Greek's plans of trying to snatch a late win. Having again looked at the Czech's squad, it's not nearly as impressive as I always kind of think it is. Rosicky is the big name within the squad, but he looked far from the player in the opening game, that was making the headlines at Arsenal earlier in the year. I'm going for the Czech's to be 2 nil up in I don't know, the first 6 minutes or something mad.

Stat of the game, listen and fume to how the commentators will call Rosicky "Radzinski"

I've worked with a Slovakian and he'd lamp you for saying that. The Czechoslovakian team who won the Euros in 76 were 80% Slovak and only had I think three Czech's in the starting line up.

Fifa go by land mass. So Russia inherit the USSR's results and trophies as they have the most land mass, and Czech Republic inherit Czechoslovakia's results and trophies. So, because it's smaller, Slovakia is assumed to be the breakaway state rather then the successor. But in footballing terms it's unfair because the USSR team was often mostly Ukrainian and the best Czechoslovakian team was mostly Slovak. Really Slovakia should be credited for that win rather then the Czech Republic.

Trust me when I say this is a rant I've heard before.
