Solid defender but my god the amounts of moves that broke down because he can't make a simple ten yard pass. Worst passer of the ball I've seen in an Everton shirt.

Having said that he made up for it with his defensive work but there's a reason we all want Johnny in that role instead.

Played better than Johnny today for me. Was solid in defense throughout.

Beckford 5 - ran at people and made himself a bit of a nuscence. Don't like the diving though.

Yeah, I know. I was shouting at Torres for being a diviing [Poor language removed] and I don't like to see that in one of our players. He looked lively though, gave us a bit of energy and an outlet which really helped.

TimHow 8 - He could have stayed at Home for most of the game, but was ready when called on
Pip 7 - Hmmmm
Bainesy 8 - Didnt get forward as much as usual, but gets an 8 for being himself
Dustbin 8 - Great display
Jags 9 - Best defender in the world today
Johnny Judas 3 - Utter [Poor language removed], useless pile of crap
Coleman 8 - superb
Ossie 8 - Super stuff from the Man from Skem
Arteta 8 - Great goal and had to work extra hard seems Heitinga was taking German lessons
Cahill 200000 - Completely ran the game, utterly superb
Yak 7 - Looked good in flashes

Howard - 8: Not called into action much in the first half, but he was sharp and alert in the second. And I loved how he kept rolling it out, letting us play it on the ground.

Neville - 7: Good captain's performance. Still looks lost past the half way line, but well in nonetheless.

Jags - 8: Thought he was ace today. Had Torres in his back pocket, although that accolade isn't as impressive anymore, but still he was great.

Distin - 7: Excellent defensively, really was, but some terrible wayward passes.

Baines - 7.5: Another solid performance from Baines, and his delivery is ace. Needs to be the first choice corner/free kick man, imo.

Coleman - 7.5: He's like one of those windup toys you had when you were little. Wind it up, point it forward, and watch it charge. Great assist as well. Love him to bits.

Arteta - 8: Shame he went off because he was calm throughout, and feisty when needed. He's not Spanish anymore, he's scouse.

Heitinga - 7: Decent from him, if a bit average really. Hope his injury ain't serious.

Osman - 7: Good to be fair, and well, well up for it. Yet again, hope his injury's okay.

Cahill - 9: I could bum him. Great goal, calm play with good passing, and well up for it to the extreme. He's as blue as any of us.

Yakubu - 8: 9 for the first half, he was spectacular. Confused me a bit second half, looking for the foul too often when it was clear Webb was allowing a physical game. His shoulder barge gave me a hard on though.

Subs:

Bily - 7: Lost the ball a bit and made the wrong decision when he passed to Beckford (should have threaded it through, not played it behind him), but it was great to see him out there and -- at one point -- even smiling! He was tracking back and defending well too.

Hibbert - 7: Well he did what Hibbert does -- defends. Quite well in fact.

Beckford - 6: Unlucky to be booked, but ran them ragged for a bit and eased the pressure. Looked too eager though, because he should have ran with it a bit before the shot, instead he missed the chance.

Moyes - 9: Pretty much spot on, Moylesie. Keep Jol on the backburner then :P

Webb - 8: Good performance, but like the WC he often booked the wrong people, but on the whole the bookings were fair. Glad he let the physical side of the game play out.

Extremely generous! Typical Premier League referee performance form him today, [Poor language removed]. At least they're consistent.

I hate it when the RS call us bitter blues, but mate, moaning about the ref when we won 2-0, and he didn't make any big bad decisions (no red card or pen decisions not given/given wrongly), is a bit bitter.

Enjoy the day mate, don't moan about the little things.

Yeah I agree, but Heitinga isn't a natural midfielder.

Am I the only one who thought Heitinga, especially in the first half, was ace? Him sitting allowed Arteta to create things and look like the Arteta of old.
Didn't the commentators say he went off injured? Maybe why not so good in 2nd half.

Yeah, him and Osman were both injured I think. Not sure about Mikel, though.

No you're not, I think Danish television got it right when they said that him and Arteta completely bossed the game, Heitinga did the cleaning and Arteta the polishing - they really complimented each another.

Howard - 7 Didn't have much to do really, but a calming influence on his defence.

Neville - 7 Solid, a little sloppy at times, but Cole didn't get much out of him.
Jagielka - 9 World class.
Distin - 9 A world class performance.
Baines - 8 The Leighton Baines.

Coleman - 8 Tricky, direct,
Heitinga - 6 Sloppy passing, no lack of effort though, he'll be fine.
Arteta - 9 Doesn't get enough credit for his defensive skills, as classy as ever, but so tenacious and tactically aware.
Osman - 8 He was doing well, surprisingly, and his effort really set the tempo in the first half.

Cahill - 9 Fantastic throughout, caused them all sorts of problems and dropped in towards the end of the game to shore things up.

Yakubu - 9 When he gets his arse between opposition player and ball, no one is getting it off him. Powerhouse.

Hibbert - 6 So, so, made a mistake for Torres' chance, but I won't hold that against him.
Beckford - 6 Good energy and running.
Bilyaletdinov - 6 Leave him alone...

100% agree.

Distin and Jags were immense. Howard had a great game I thought. Arteta gave his best performance in a derby, thought Heitinga was fine. Cahill was Super Tim. Osman was great I thought, some nice touches and well up for it. Coleman played well and probably won it for us with that assist. Neville was fine and probably gave his biggest contribution with his mouth. Yakubu looked great first half and fine the second.

Thought Bily looked lost myself, bad touches galore, the only bad performance from an Everton player. Shame about Beckford on another day he might've found himself in some good positions to score.

Moyes got it spot on, what a man. My RS best mate very graciously admitted we worked harder and looked 'legitimately more talented in every position.' Great day to be blue.

Fair play to him. Those are the Liverpool supporters who I have time for.

Sure they want to beat us like we want to beat them but when it doesn't happen for them on occasion, they hold their hands up and admit that they were beaten by the better side, as they've done to us in the past.

Distin is still a stray passer, but defensively him and Jagielka were [Poor language removed] hot, really really good.

I thought Billy was a bit hectic at times (especially tracking back) but he was really getting stuck in with the tackles and he sorted Gerrard out too, if he starts adding a bit more of a fighting edge to his game he'll really come on.

Ossie set the tempo for me in the first half, him and Yakubu seem to play really well together.

Coleman is still a bit erratic but he gives us direct-ness and his work for the first goal was amazing.

Cahill is fast becoming one of my all time favourite players.

The Yak for 50 or so minutes was sensational too.

Beckford gave us a bit of speed up top when needed (good tactical move), pity he didn't take Billys pass on a bit more though...
