It will be interesting how the FA deal with this, if its genuine. Between five (to get booked when asked) and seventy grand (to guarantee the result) suggests that this is going on at quite a low level, and that the players concerned - if they are league players - are desperate.
Ordinarily I would think that life bans all around would be appropriate, but it seems a bit harsh to batter some players for this when they let owners of clubs like Portsmouth, Wrexham, Chester City (rip) try to kill clubs through thievery without any kind of meaningful sanction, and are letting monied clubs like City and Chelsea wreck both the mens and womens game by making it impossible for anyone honest to win anything.

Did you see Tony Cottee on the report? He looks like he's suddenly aged about 40 year. They also referred to him in the little thing under his name as 'Barnet Manager 2000-2001', made me chuckle for some reason.
Ha, wasn't he only manager for about 8 games as well?
Wiki says October 2000 to March 2001 as Player-Manager, scored 9 in 16 but they got relegated haha illustrious managerial career there, someone at Sky must have been taking the piss.

Love fixed games.
Couple of seasons ago my mate spotted one, was a good price at the time and he knew it would end 1-1. He threw £150 on it to end 1-1 and they equalised 20minutes before the end. You can tell its a fix when they start misplacing passes and scuffing shots.

It will never hit the premier league, because players get paid more than a match fixing fee (about £7000) why would someone who is paid £30,000 a week + risk it for £7000k this will be lower league and conference.

It already has mate,Hans segers,Grobelaar,Fashanu scandal.Some would say we would have been relegated without it.
Wages are a lot higher these days but people get greedy and it wouldn't surprise me if we seen another scandal at some point.

Am I just naive but why would a bookie take a large bet on a player getting booked ? . Surely you'd question that wouldn't you ?
