Martinez wanted 6/7 new signings - and why - squad and age

I think he is basically saying that it is Kenwright that is prudent. RM can easily give a list of names that he wants but ultimately its BK that does the negotiations. We know how tight he is and will always offer below value and therefore make it long drawn. It has its fors and againsts, if we get a player (which we have in the past) for a bargain price then its a result but ask yourself, how many targets have we missed out on and made other clubs aware because of the length of negotiations in trying to knock a million off the price?

It's obviously early in the day but I can't think past Kyle Naughton ?

Everton isn't it, as long as we have a joke of a chairman we will remain small time and amateur. How can you build a team if you only loan players for 1 season then they sod off. All the loans make us a bit of a laughing stock, especially to the rich scum across the park.

Come on Dave, were you saying the same thing this time last year then?

As if you were, events at the close of the window might have altered your viewpoint somewhat eh?

Martinez will operate on an, at best, a break even budget, at worst deficit budget in his time in charge with us. He's well and truly on board with the Kenwright financial plan. I say that because he simply wouldn't have got the job otherwise. His predecessor was employed on the same understanding; his eventual successor will be too.

If there's some compelling evidence to the contrary I'd be glad to look at it.

I was in love with his player purchasers, its hard to fall in love with somebody who bought Arouna Kone.

You mean you were in love with somebody who bought Per Kroldrup, James Beattie and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov for a combined fee of £21m?

I think we have MAX of around 30m to spend, but that depends on Lukaku, Chelsea are NEA, if we say we will pay you 25p a week over the next 25 years they wont care a jot. But then if we have to deal with other clubs, clubs who actually wanna see money, we will be lucky to spend abar 5m tops.

No matter what happens will we defo 100% loan 4 players again, NAILED ON.

I can see us making 2 perma signings, 4 loans signings and 2 young uns, all for a combined fee of 28p, a packet of Wotsits and a used condom.

That is the top and bottom of it basically in your post. Roll on AGM 2015 when we get to find out the inflows and outflows of cash into the club given all the new TV money and the money aquired via player sales.

Hope it,s all going on the flats in FF.

the new manager contract extension signed prior to the transfer window served as mean to an end for all.

You do know we finished 5th out of 92 last season don't you? hardly amateur and small time is it. But if it fits your anti-kenwright agenda I'm sure it's true.

I can see RM suffering second season syndrome. He's charmed everyone and worked well on a deficit budget. The bigger workload now though will stretch the squad we'll likely start with and stretch patience with it when/if we suffer a dip in form.

He's been great for the club; a real shot in the arm after the last days few seasons of the Moyes era. But he, like his predecessor, will play the prudent game his employer demanded of him on joining and he'll end up carrying the can for it.

Chin up, Dave.

Everything will be sound when we win the Europa League ;).
