Martinez wanted 6/7 new signings - and why - squad and age

@eternal_defiance why do you keep saying 6/7 players over 22 ? Its clear from the quotes highlighted that the players may be of any age.

You also realise 4 loans + 2 permanent signings = 6 players right?

So Lukaku + another is easily achievable.

You see reason, I see denial...deep down 3 Chins Mout is a hopeless romantic, even though he gets burned every. single. year.

You might say im a dreamer, im not the only 1.

I aint gonna panic till August, they got till the first week in August and if theres no ins by then im gonna fume so much.

You forgetting when he was hopelessly in love with moyes

I was in love with his player purchasers, its hard to fall in love with somebody who bought Arouna Kone.

So if he wants 6 or 7 signings and we get Traore and a Barcelona kid on loan and also sign Barry then that is 3 of them sorted and that is basically what we are predicting. Possibly get another loan from Chelsea or City (Moses/Rodwell) and spend big money on Lukaku/Bony. That would still leave some money to get in whatever else he needs depending on the size of the fee for the striker.

Realise this is the same as what Zatara says above but it is true.

Same old summer with Everton still no signings. Why oh why do we wait til the last minute to bring new faces in. Deadline day again I bet you

I can see RM suffering second season syndrome. He's charmed everyone and worked well on a deficit budget. The bigger workload now though will stretch the squad we'll likely start with and stretch patience with it when/if we suffer a dip in form.

He's been great for the club; a real shot in the arm after the last days few seasons of the Moyes era. But he, like his predecessor, will play the prudent game his employer demanded of him on joining and he'll end up carrying the can for it.

I think we'll have a late surge and finish top 4 like United did last season.

I think it's too early to make that kind of bold prediction personally.

He's been back from the WC for 1 whole working day, we need to see who he manages to bring in before now and the big KO and then before the window shuts, before we can be making predictions based on any sort of fact as opposed to merely gut.

I'm making my prediction on the basis of the irrefutable evidence of 15 years of baloney served up by EFC under that fraud Kenwright.

Come on Dave, were you saying the same thing this time last year then?

As if you were, events at the close of the window might have altered your viewpoint somewhat eh?

I think he is basically saying that it is Kenwright that is prudent. RM can easily give a list of names that he wants but ultimately its BK that does the negotiations. We know how tight he is and will always offer below value and therefore make it long drawn. It has its fors and againsts, if we get a player (which we have in the past) for a bargain price then its a result but ask yourself, how many targets have we missed out on and made other clubs aware because of the length of negotiations in trying to knock a million off the price?
