Martinez Post Match Interviews

I have to be honest and say I do like Martinez, the free flowing football last season was good to watch.

However individual mistakes and poor defensive errors, can't be argued against. The manager needs to drop players who aren't performing and ensure he plays people in their correct positions.

One thing I'm not so sure about though, is that he is being very firm with the referees post match interviews.

I have personally counted five times now, when the referee has done Everton from the oposition being down to 10 men or given a really poor decision.

If it was Mourinho (as he showed last match), it would be a conspiracy. Same with Wenger, Van Gaal - the list goes on. So why doesn't Roberto get some firm grip and atcually say it how it is, in a number of games the referees have let us down.

All in all, we have played poor but if four of them decisions had gone for us, easily it could have been at least six extra points or another twelve.

I think you have miss-understood the point. Whether we have played poorly or not, the referee's have bottled four big decisions with us and Martinez has said pratically nothing (apart from Cisse which was that obvious, that he didn't even need to).

If he had said something in one of them games, the referee's would have had a word in their ear before the matches. Why do you think in the next 3/4 matches, Chelsea are going to get the rub of the green? It's all due to Mourinho's comments.

I'm not saying blame the referees for the results, I'm saying, he shouldn't just simply pretend that it didn't happen. It could have changed the match, whether we are 4-0 down or 4-0 up (haha). He needs to get more firm with the refs or we're gonna have this all season.

We have been terrible, but I'm not sure that's relevant. Does playing poorly mean it's okay for the referee to not follow the rules? Get a grip.

We need to be making a noise because it's leaving us at a disadvantage. Kick up a stink like the others do and create a bit of pressure for the ref, then next time an incompetent ref might think twice about giving a player a mere yellow for a Kung Fu kick to the back.

I'd rather not have to do this, but nothing's getting done otherwise and it is leaving us at a disadvantage. It's been the difference in a few games, even though we have played poorly -- so have Spurs, but they squeak 2-1 wins, we lose 1-0. We were rubbish against Stoke but if the ref had done his job we'd have drawn. Same against City. Who knows with Newcastle -- 1 goal and 1 man up, totally different game.

I'll tell you who does need to get a grip of the refs: the spineless **** players in blue shirts. One of their team mates had three elbows to the face from Cisse - it was noticeable that at least three saw it - and they stood there like a gang of dummies saying nothing.

Can you imagine the Kopites or Chelsea or United accepting that without a red card getting waved? No, neither can I. Same with Walters dragging down Baines. If that had been those other teams mentioned they'd have been around that tithead Mason like flies round a turd. Only McCarthy had a go.

Where has the competitiveness and pride of these fakes gone to?

Not specifically to do with the refs issue but I bloody hate Martinez's interviews. I realise he focuses a lot on man management and making everyone feel great about themselves but when we're playing how we have its time to call a spade a spade and admit we're awful at the moment and make the players and himself take some responsibility.

If I hear the words 'there were some real positives to the way we played' one more time after Alcaraz and Distin have played a 90 minute long game of one touch on the halfway line...

I think we miss a player like Cahill actually. Or Big Duncan (mind you he wouldn't have surrounded the ref, I dread to think what he'd have done to Cisse so maybe not!)

Maybe Besic can help put a bit of spite back into our game. I agree entirely, I wonder if Martinez is perhaps not cultivating that enough. In many ways it's a strength of Martinez, but if he isn;t the one to wind them up a bit, either Jones or Duncan need to have a word.

I didn't notice the likes of Caldwell, McArthur, Macmanaman etc being too passive at Wigan when they were in need of talking to the ref.

I think it's these players. Moyes brought them through not to give the officials any hassle.

Eto'o, Robles, McCarthy, Barry, Kone, McGeady, Alcarez - all on the pitch when the incident occurs, all signed by Martinez

McCarthy is the one who has the biggest say with refs; and Eto'o is ALWAYS on the ref's case in every game. Barry is also usually vociferous.

Your point, in other words, is a poor one.

Monk has basically called out Mike Riley on TV and in the media. If he and Mourinho feel they have the grounds to do that, then RM has even more grounds to do so. Having said that, I don't think it's in his (dare I say it) PHILOSOPHY to be nasty or sarcastic in the media.

Aside from that, I think he's become a parody of himself. Personally, I'm fed up of all the "phenomenals" and trying to put a positive spin on things when we've lost to below average teams and put in rubbish performances.

I'm not anti-Martinez, I just want him and the players to get their collective finger out and start playing the sexy football of last season ASAP. Not too much to ask, is it:D

But, as far as his his post match interviews go, I CBA anymore.

hahahahahaha

You're the one who blamed the players for not being in the officials face; now your saying they are do.

7 of the 11 players on the pitch against Newcastle were purchased by Martinez and not one got in the refs face. Or are we just focussing on the ones Moyes brought in.

Hilarious
