I'm not automatically against the man. If tonight gives him a "lightbulb moment" and he realises that there's more than one way to crack an egg, then good on him.

But if he doesn't understand the problem now and we turn up against Newcastle like we did in the first 30 tonight, then he's clearly done and surely everyone with a working brain will come to that conclusion.

I'm not asking us to go at Newcastle like headless chickens - I just want us to be positive in our own ability and impose our game.

This

Standard has been set from the players and the fans now. If Martinez was behind that change in the second half than I'm made up, we all know we cant go back to what we seen in that first half and if it does happen on Sunday I don't think Goodison is going to stand for it.

Martinez isn't daft and he surely knows that it's now or never.
Martinez must learn from tonight.
He knows the fans and players want us to go forward quicker and it works
This all over.

If he was behind the change in tempo, smashing. If not, then surely he must see what's needed now.

If he doesn't see that, well I don't know. But tonight was a good night, so let's hope for the best.

in his interview he said we played better when we had a good tempo

Well let's hope he's seen the light and doesn't put blackout curtains up.

Hear this though - if it was the players that changed it tonight, consider the fact that they could've pulled this out of the bag using their own initiative long ago.

doubt the players could 'decide' to play differently halfway through a game, everyone would be on a different page and wouldn't work with the tactics worked on in trining...I think

Spot on.

If we're passing the ball around aimlessly and getting pressed/battered on the counter against Newcastle, like we were in the first half tonight and countless other games this season, then the only conclusion we can possibly draw is that Martinez will just never learn his lesson.

Excellent summary this. I've lost all faith in Martinez recently, but if he can see the light after this performance and get the players and fans back onside, all may not be lost. Sunday is a big test for him.
