As for a lot of it falling on the players, are you saying it was the players who made last season happen, not the manager? If not then why is it the fault of the players this season and not the manager?

The clue is in the name 'manager'. If you look carefully you might spot it.

No what I'm saying is last season BOTH manager AND players stepped up. This season the manager AND the players haven't been up to standard . I don't think one poor season should cost a manager his job. Clubs these days are too quick to reach for the new manager card but that's a whole other argument. It angers me when I see other clubs do it, or when supporters start lame Twitter campaigns like #rodgersout & #pardewout, so I don't want to see the club I love so much put themselves in that basket as well. Show a little spine.

When a club over preforms, which let's face it last season was an over performance, with it comes raised expectations that are often very difficult to match. Just because we had one outstanding season by our standards it doesn't mean we're solidified to or guaranteed a top half finish forever after. Would have been great if last seasons performance carried over to this season obviously, both on and off the field. I believe there's a different feel around the community too, whereas last season there were many public appearances and a lot community involvement I haven't seen a lot of that this season.

This season is a write-off but I truly believe Martinez AND the players can lift again next season.

But that's the thing about opinions, I don't have to give a piss about yours and likewise you of mine.
 

My biggest concern is that despite the glaring issues on the pitch, he doesn't make any adjustments. It would be foolish to regard him as the only source of the malaise, the players are really underperforming too but I'm really dubious whether he is willing to change the mistakes that have been made all season long... because I really think he's had numerous chances to do so and he's making the same faults time and time again.
At the same time I really have nobody in mind who could be brought in as a replacement, so we might as well sit back and pray.
 
I'm not feeling a lot of arguments for the club in here, what I'm sensing is tears from meffs who are more blatantly more concerned about their association with Everton being used as a stick to beat them with. Trying to disguise it by using the same tired excuses that were leveled at Moyes in his second full season doesn't work.

I'd take Laudrup, I was hoping he was in the running for the job when Moyes left
Of course none of this matter because when we win the Europa League this will all be put behind us yeah... :D
 
Mark Hughes, he has to be the one, apart from City he has always done well, and is proven in the transfer market, with our type of budget.
 

everytime we lose with our tails down, and i see photos of RM smiling from ear to ear, i really feel like strangling him ala Duncan-style
 
Well it doesn't look like he's going anywhere yet. That means must get behind him again for these next two crucial matches.

Be prepared for it to all start again with even more venom if the next 2 don't go to plan.
 
I wonder which set of fans Portsmouth or Wigan hold the manager responsible for their FA cup success and immediate relegation in highest esteem.
I wonder if Martinez has ever offered his resignation like Moyes famously did on the plane back from Dinamo Bucharest.
I wonder if any manager in the current game has the bottle to work with underlings on the board of a club to oust the owner.

If I could pinpoint where the side/club/displays have gone into terminal decline this season I could at least gain some perspective on the colossal fiasco. As it stands with the place ablaze there is no learning to be done only to sift through the ashes when the fire is out and like her with the beard from Eurovision seek to rise like a phoenix. Hopefully our phoenix act wont be on the same scale as the likes of Leeds and Shef Weds and Derby and Forrest and and and....
