Walter Smith's run of just one League win in 13, his Everton side sat in 15th place when a 3-0 defeat at Middlesbrough in the FA Cup became the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back for chairman Bill Kenwright and he was sacked on March 11th

Dave can you please at least acknowledge, that Moyes had nowhere near the squad we currently have.

This was Moyes line up on the opening day of the 03/04 season, which of these would get in our starting xi now
Lehmann 1 1 Wright
Lauren 12 23 Pistone
Cole 3 4 Stubbs
Campbell 23 4 Yobo
Toure 28 6 Unsworth

Pires 7 2 Watson
Vieira 4 11 Pembridge (Naysmith 66'')
Ljungberg 8 16 Gravesen
Silva 19 22 Linderoth
Wiltord 11 8 Radzinski

Henry 14 19 Chadwick

FFS....
It's besides the point. I've tackled this a million times. The trigger point is the important one to note. Only that. It's not a comparison of quality.

The whole league has improved their squads since that time though. Apart from United maybe.

Should think so too...one point above the drop places...useless tit.

What difference does it make in any case? I was clearing a minor detail up (or so I thought). It's insignificant. Unelss you see it being of importance?

he got tin tacked because we were ONE POINT ABOVE THE RELEGATION ZONE.

That's the salient issue here.

Jesus wept.

If you are correct they would have sacked him immediately after the WHU game. The humiliating FA cup exit was the final straw but hey don't let the facts get in the way of your specious argument.

Team spirit and morale look completely shot now.when this happens in any industry its down to poor management. I've been a big martinez fan but its hard to back him at the moment. If we fail to beat Newcastle at home its difficult to see where another win will come from. Even worse the entertainment on offer is non existant and has turned my beloved goodison in to a morgue

Goodison is more than just a morgue at the moment. You can feel the palpable anxiety which is affecting the players too.
They look terrified, almost caught between what way they want to play football and they way in which they're being told to play football.

The usual thing a manager in these circumstances does is go back to basics, that's why teams get the likes of Neil Warnock in when they're in the shoite. It seemed that when Robles was in goal that's what Martinez had done, tightened up at the back, stopping us from conceding and losing. I,m not blaming Howard, but it all seemed to go to rat when he went back in. Therefore surely the logical answer must be to put Robles back in ?. ( or am I thinking with too much sense ? ).

Im not sure what you mean here mate, I can see wehy that team at that time finished in the bottom half and worse, I can't understand how even a basic/competent PL manager has us about 15 points behind Stoke and 11 behind West Ham.

Its scandalous

I have to wonder at his point: if Martinez is getting the sack and it's all over for him...why are the people who want that to happen all agitated and running round like headless chickens abusing others?

It's like a lynch mob has been denied their prisoner - they realise it's not over by a long chalk...that their blood lust has to be kept in check for at least a little while longer...and <whisper it> they mightn't even get to have the lynching in the end if Martinez gets a result against Newcastle.

It's a hideous spectacle.

As anyone mentioned he got 72 points last season
What 72 points?...if a manager got that haul they'd have done a brilliant job. That cant be true, otherwise we wouldn't have a load of belters trying to get him sacked.

No, I refuse to believe this happened...we must have got no more than 50 points or something. No fans could be that fickle...could they?

Nobody wanted him sacked last season, cos you know, he actually won games.

People want the team to win games, hes failing to do that.

I suspect we could be in League Two with this clown in charge and you would still be going on about his "record points tally".

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

You are spent.
