But how does that answer why someone is constantly petitioning for the manager to be sacked...and,in fact, was petitioning for it months ago before this run has reached where it is? Maybe you can explain that?

Yeah I can actually - again, look at the results and the "football" we've been playing since December.

When a side like ours performs this badly, questions are asked. People have different tolerance levels. Mine was WBA in January, for example. People have reached that line later, which is why this poll is what it is now.

People are panicking when they see someone who is perceived to be useless at their job leading a product they care deeply about to the edge of oblivion. It's hardly rocket science.

There's no right or wrong either. People could be fearing Martinez relegating us now, but he might not, but that doesn't mean that fear wasn't justified based on form over a long period of time now. He could win us the league next year, but that wouldn't mean he didn't fully deserve to be sacked now for his performance.

As there have been numerous polls perhaps a final scoring of them can be posted up explaining the relevant results and where they sit on a poll by poll timeline.
That could give some insight into how much tolerance and patience and knee jerkability has been in play.

You can't compare him or Everton as it is now to what is was like when Moyes was in charge at the start. We were pretty poor then. Now were actually pretty decent have been for years.

I think this is fair. It is not a like for like comparison, and Martinez has been worse than Moyes was in his second season because of it.

However the general principles remain the same. Manager comes in hits the ground running. In the second season the honeymoon period ends. Players begin to become sceptical, senior pro's are wary, younger players lose respect for him. Fans question him more.

This is an over simplification but what a lot of managers go through. Particularly in both cases, where you have a previous manager who had overseen a build up of older pro's more tied to the previous regime.

Moyes was able to show, with support an ability to move forward from that situation. Martinez deserves the same chance.

Walter Smith was sacked with the following league record.

Played 29 Won 7 Draw 9 Lost 13 F 27 A 35

Martinez currently has

Played 28 Won 6 Draw 10 Lost 12 F 33 A 41

Walter was sacked March 2002.

In March 2004 Moyes record was

Played 29 Won 8 Draw 9 Lost 12 F 35 A 40

Martinez is currently the worst Manager in the history of our Club.
Smith was sacked on that game because we were 1 point above the relegation spots. We are 6 points ahead

Moyes was in 14th place 6 points above the drop zone at that point (sound familiar?)

...oh, and by the way...both those had played 29 games at that point - Martinez has had 28. So if/when we beat the barcodes....

Pfffft!

538, 71.2%.... damn

does anyone think martinez out shouts will be vocalised/signposted before the end of the season?

I dearly hope not but it doesnt seem like its awfully far off that

I've just taken this post apart below.

You're welcome.

Not once did I mention the word relegation.

Walter Smith failed to manage the team to results, Martinez is currently doing the same terrible job.

If we lose to Newcastle should he be sacked?

The one thing you defo didn't mention was points and points gap on the bottom three...it's why Smith was sacked and Moyes retained...and it'll seal Martinez's fate one way or the other too.

Kenwright will act if that margin diminishes to 3. I feel certain of that now.

If you have an unlimited budget then Lukaku is a great potential buy.

If you haven't then you need to look at other areas of the team as well.

Granted £8 mill probably doesn't get you a world class midfielder but would have got you the likes of Tadic
Signing Lukaku was a coup - if we hadn't have got him we woudn't have had the record season last season - we'd have been playing with Kone (a 10 goal per season incidently) or signed someone like Carlton Cole

Agree a top class centre half is a priority

Smith was sacked after we crashed out of the FA Cup.

I wont allow you to re-write history David, not on my watch.

Ashamed to say it's the first time I've voted for him to go. I wish I had more faith but I'm seriously worried about relegation. And it's not easy listening to his post match interviews either when all you get is the same meaningless waffle week in week out.
