With the cup semi final weeks away is it worth it? Not sure we'll play much better without a manager.
 
Split on this.

Positives:
+ Needs to be said beyond a shadow of a doubt.
+ Negativity at the match hasn't worked. Why not make it visual and focus on getting behind the team vocally.
+ Honestly think the players couldn't give a flying if there's a banner or not. They're now looking out for number one.

Negatives:
- Increases negativity around the team just before a game which would give us all at least something to smile about this season.
- If it did work, would having a caretaker manager for the semi help or hinder us?

I say do it, why not?

I'd prefer us to have a caretaker manager in place by the time the semi-final rolls around. We might have a chance of getting a result then.
 
No harm in getting Joe Royle in to manage us for the rest of the season - his first game could be the derby, where we win 2-0 with Big Dunc and Paul Rideout grabbing the goals, then finish the season with a respectable end to the league campaign and top it off with an FA Cup final win.
 
I haven't read all of this thread because I've not go the time but here is my view. We are a very "British" set of fans, what i mean by that is we are just like Brits in that we keep our heads down, everyone says how lovely little old Everton are just like people say Britain is a lovely place when in fact the country needs to step up and sort out lots of things (another non football thread for that) So what I'm saying is Semi Final or not this is a perfect opportunity, it needs doing. Put the pressure on Martinez and then in a couple of months time if he has got things in order and won us the Cup then he has every right to stick two fingers up at us. I would be more than happy to accept that. I sat watching Villa on TV on Saturday and thought to myself that could have been us, I then began thinking about the Clubs over the years that have plummeted down the divisions Charlton, Leeds, Portsmouth, Bolton are in a mess and I just thank God we never had that dread capitulation. I do not feel Martinez has the ability as a manager at the level we are at now never mind in 1,2 or 3 years. If I was Moshiri I would send him on his way whether the old Cup is in the cabinet or not I wouldn't give him any money to spend.

On the appointment of Martinez a friend of mine that supports Swansea warned me that Martinez is clueless and relies heavily on Graham Jones. I do hope we win the Cup obviously but if we don't and RM is sacked then it may be a blessing in disguise. I would sooner have a solid manager and good team going forward to win things over the coming years than one pot this year and then fail miserably under his stewardship next season.

It's a weakness and has been since well before the current manager. But we weren't just attacking at that point. We had to maintain a counter threat but we looked tired and were second to everything for the last quarter. Pretty natural when down to ten men.

No mate. It wasn't tiredness, it was poor tactics.

And why didn't west ham do it all game? Perhaps because they tried to play against us, it didn't work so at half time they brought on.........Andrew Carroll. Which you know yourself his strength is to head the ball. How do you take advantage of that? Crossing it in , so yes west ham did identify what to do and then went and done it as well.

Plus it is hard to defend a lead when you have 5 players alone at the half way line.


Finally, tired legs? Our left mid was sent off, so the defence (including a fresh centre half) and midfield would have been in the same state of fitness whether kev was on the pitch or not , and we channelled everything though Lennon anyway and Ross so that is why we didn't get affected by it.

No offense mate but what you say are excuses rather than just admitting obvious truths. There is only one goal all season that specifically should have not been a goal , terrys one. But away from that, the tactics are so poor which is why we aren't winning any games when doing them.
 

Yeah, get the spray cans out. Whether some think it's crass or not, Martinez simply needs to go and if banners turn up the pressure on the board, then I'm all for it. Even if we fluke winning the FA Cup, he needs to be given his P45. If he's in charge next season, our Premier League status will be under serious threat.

especially with a Cup semi looming.

we're not where we want to be, or should be, but El Bob has done some good things and while i am not confident he is the right man going forward, a banner such as this would be nonsense and would also affect the players negatively, b/c let's face it, we have the pitchforks out for RM b/c of the performance of the players, not in spite of it.

I'm not sure how you can analyse a game to that level and not reference that one team was down to ten men for most of it.
So yeah. Tiredness is a factor. And again if they'd identified it before the game why not do it from the start?
