i) No need to make it up is there? Sadly, it'll probably happen now...

ii) Who, the hacks & dumb pundits that you roundly chide, them?

iii) Solidly bottom half, cool...

I used to really enjoy reading your posts Dave, they were fun...off kilter at times, insightful & provoking at others, admirable all the same.

Now it's just like watching a mad, repetitive womble careering about a littered common without any real aim nor purpose but intent on picking at scraps all the same. But the 'funny' of your stuff has ceased, you're now wildly and deliberately antagonistic and wholly unappreciative of how others view the situation or what it means to them, instead you now appear SO devoted to your 'cause' that you pretty much choose to just insult and deride fellow blues, your use of 'accent' by way of example suggests you're viewing a portion as baaaaaadly thick & blinkered, that's how it paints it mate...then again, is that how you view the local, match-going blues as sounding, like over-enthused BREAD extras on the back-end of a lude-high? I fear, sadly, that you throw in the 'we go again' piffle in your earlier scribble simply for reaction and nothing else...has it really come to that?

You prattle about debate yet many posters pose you questions that you fail to answer nor even acknowledge at times, instead you'll just repeat your odd little '72' mantra by way of deflection and ignore some of the extremely relative & salient points people are trying to make and, indeed, engage with you on...

And so it transpires, post-vault, that you too at some stage felt his position should be questioned if results stayed the same. Hahahaha. Yet people feeling that now you deem their opinion null and verging on hysteria? Strange, man...

It's a shame too, because your a BOSS poster & contributor and there's been times in the past, a while ago, when stuff you've written has actually made me step back and consider/review my stance on him.

Now though, well, you just make me think I'm right about him and have been all along...

Still, onward eh....us and the 'Iranian Tit'.

Dear me.

Pffff...

:coffee:
class post.

Just to pick up this point. We could well be playing west ham so perfect example. The performance if the team in that game recently was on the whole fine, especially under the circumstances. The issue was down to the manager not reacting to what was happening, using tactics that left us weak at the back and easily exploited and cost us the game.

That is what is holding us back, poor management, so I wouldn't care if we put up a good performance and lost because of that reason, it would prove Martinez is a hindrance to himself.

If the team played like we did against Chelsea and lost, personally I'd have no complaints about it, but you have to question why the team can do that one week and follow it with such poor performances like arsenal
Because that's football. And that's not supposed to be flippant. You can play well and lose and look great one week and lost the next. Can't see the point in picking individual games out to make an overall point. I'd have totally agreed with people saying we needed to tighten up a few months ago. To my mind we have. But you'll be able to find individual things that prove otherwise.
West Ham we were down to ten men for a huge stretch of the game. You usually lose. How we lost may indicate something bigger to some people. For me it was just gutting and we deserved better

Ignoring the Galloways and only first teamers:

Stones
Mori
Besic
McCarthy
Barkley
Deulofeu
Lukaku

All improved and there values have increased, thats discounting Clev and Lennon also who would be worth more than Free + £4.5mil.

We need to add a few more players to the group.

Stones - Value dropped since 1st season. Martinez defensive coaching or lack of has made him a worse player the past 2 seasons. He's slowly getting that natural talent coached out of him
Mori - Not worth more than we paid.
Besic - oh yea he's being kept out of the team by a 37 yr old but his values gone up
McCarthy - Would you really say he's gone up in value. I dont think so. He's being forced to be the legs for 2 players and doesn't get to impact the game.
Barkley - Is actually undervalued because Bobby is not doing him any favours. He was terrible yesterday but Bobby wont say that to him. It's ok to make mistakes he's still young blah blah blah
Deulofeu - how has his value improved when he's spent most of the last 4 months on the bench. He's still only potential
Lukaku - yes. I mentioned him I thought

Cleverly - I think we'd need to pay someone to take him. He might suit villa's level now
Lennon - £4.5m is about right. He's played well for us but don't think his value will change considerably.

Its because the full backs cant defend + lennon wasnt playing wide.

you consistently blame the full backs and never blame the system.

Name a full back who would be better defensively and wouldn't be caught out of position when the managers tactics are that they bomb forward at every opportunity.

Agree with most of that. only things i would say are

Stones - If he was to go this summer we wouldn't be courting the same amounts as last summer (barring a ridiculous Euros from him)

Besic - Cant see how his value has gone up, profile yes, value no.

McCarthy - think he is worth exactly what we paid for him not a penny more.

Deulofeu - thing is, value might have been improved but we could lose him for a fraction because of the deal with barcelona for buy back. if they want him or not, his value is set by the buy back in his contract. he might be worth £20 million, but barca could have him back for £6 million

Cleverly - we got him on a free, so he can't decrease in value - think if we sold him tomorrow we would get money. Don't think his value increase is down to Martinez.

To be fair mate, we've had two very poor league seasons already and he has signed a fair few players. Last year when we finished 11th we were told the demands of European football were the cause and to give him another season. Now after another very poor league showing with no Euro footy to blame and the most talented group of players in 20+ years, he deserves to be here come August?

My thinking is totally different.

Hes fitting players into a system/style which needs players able to play that way.

Some of our guys cant fit the system so i would like to see him have this summer to bring in players who can.

This talented group consists of half a team...hes building a team and a squad. Takes time.

They are part of the group + id look beyond the obvious and replace 5 of the first 11.
So you would like an under performing manager to ideally swap half if his first 11?

Only way that happens is if the manager is swapped as well .

Well not necessarily. There's a good chance Stones, Lukaku and Barkely will help him to change 3 of those 5.

But the players fit that system in his first season? and the players he has brought in since being here have been "of the right profile to fit our system" (martinez's own words on his player recruitment).

No not Kopite at all if we are doing it, the only thing that might make me want to hang back is upsetting things before the cup semi but the bigger picture is him leaving, which I am confident he will be doing anyway.

But go for it if they want to.

We could disagree on most of that but the key point is that young players have blips in form same as Stones has had, Barkley,Lukaku and Deulofeu...also Galloway in the reserves.

All being played out of there comfort zones to improve their overall games since Martinez joined...something which the ex pros in the media (lol) say benefits them.

Also worth again noting their ages and that Martinez hasnt actually had as much money as people think other than the larger signings.....the rest went on short term stop gaps rightly or wrongly.

We would get decent money for all of those players.
