Awful performance, left the changes too late and made the wrong ones, a total lack of any tactical changes, just the same old boring, ineffective tripe. 1 win in 13 games. Sleep walking into a relegation battle here, and the rats are starting to jump ship

No, keep our manager, keep as much as our squad as we want to, reinforce it if possible and get them playing like we know they can. Which is the manager's bloody job and one he isn't doing.

I've always been strongly against sacking martinez this season no matter what happens. I honestly believe he's the man for us and that regime change is just going to make thigns worse.

But pretending that he isn't failing badly at his job right now is wilful blindness.
I hear you. But penalty goes in for a 1-0 win and we look at how we dominated the stats etc and we all say great win.
Just not going right for us at the moment.

That's really not happening

We have a manager with a new contract and he'll be here for the next few seasons.

I know there's a few of you feel this way - that you want the manager sacked, but lads: it isn't happeniong. Not a chance. Do yourselves a favour and drop it. The project you have going is doomed.
No offence but digs like that don't help.

Been reading a lot of your posts lately and have to admit I admire your staunch defence of Martinez, however I'm not sure if it's become more about sticking to your guns rather than see what everyone else is seeing.

Martinez is doing an absolute terrible job this season, poor tactics, poor subs, refusing to change the style of play even though we haven't got the personnel to play it when teams pressure us, pass pass pass and pass again for luck all sideways, players playing way below their level, players organising meetings with the manager to beg for him to change the style to suit.

Just where is the money coming from to get these players in to suit the system because if as usual we don't have the money required then surely we need to change the system which Martinez has proved he can't do.

Any other manager of any other team performed like Martinez has this season and you'd be telling anyone who'd listen that he needs to go, why on earth have Evertonians got to dampen their expectations after what happened last year just because Martinez has no plan B. The only thing that has changed this year is the way teams play against us and Martinez has NO plan B.

Foster never made a save of note. The penalty wouldn't have changed the fact that he was tactically undone by Pulis, following on from Bruce and Colin ffs.

Nobody who watched that game would say great win if the pen was scored.

But yeah, I think the problem is confidence. We get a dodgy win like that and maybe things will get better.

But Martinez should be able to instill that in his team, himself. He shouldn't need another dodgy win. The wolfsburg and qpr games should have been enough to spur us on and instead we collapsed.

That's a mentality problem and that comes from the coach.

Which is especially annoying because our mentality was one of the things I thought martinez had improved the most.

is it his fault Barkley won't shoot? Foster could have been made to save 10 shots in the second half alone that I saw.

We are Wigan and tonight absolutely proves that, that team is better than the rubbish he wants to play. That might work in Spain where the pace is less but in the PL there has to be more and we haven't got it!!!!!

It's do or die in the next fortnight for me. Two weeks before our next game and we have two options for me. Get players out, back the manager and spend some money, or get rid of Martinez and try something new. Either way, somethings got to give because our stale start to the season is now turning into what feels like a nightmare to me. Smacks of 01/02 (okay-ish start fading away into having dis-interested players and struggling to get a point.) In our next six games in the league we have:

Palace (A)
Liverpool (H)
Chelsea (A)
Leicester (H)
Arsenal (A)
Stoke (A)

I honestly struggle to see how we'll get more than three points from those the way we are playing. After that we have 10 games left, and we could only have 26 points. Fancy a 'great escape' with the weak characters we have in the squad? I don't. We can play nice football and still press, like last season. We have nothing- we can't counter as teams are happy to sit back and wait for us to give them the ball. So annoyed it's unbelievable as all of the hard work we've done could be unravelling and we start back where we were at the end of the Walter Smith days. Players will not be hanging around (Eto'o and now by the looks of it Mirallas.)

Maybe this is kneejerk (I may feel different tomorrow) but right now I'm absolutely gutted as we have no cutting edge, and players that won't be motivated by a relegation struggle.

Unfortunately it will take a dodgy win or a lucky break to a win at the moment. Our next win will come when we least expect it.

What? The sideways and backwards tiki taka is Martinez 'philosophy'. They're trying to walk the ball into the net and thats down to him. Foster had a cigar on as a result

we are deep in it , this is yet again a bad performance same as all the rest this year, we are to easy to play agaist, well sussed, out thought again, Barkley is being ruined before your eyes, and dont let the mirralles bollocks cloud what has just gone on, we are in the [Poor language removed], either back him with a few players, or get shut.
this fella isnt up to keeping us up if we are around it at the bottom come march.

Exactly especially the last line. Just heard pullis first comment to sky...... We need points...... . Our Spanish Mystro is still uttering the same dribble as usual. Lack of confidence, patience etc He is showing no leadership, no fighting talk. Stick em in a boxing ring Pullis would batter him....... stick em in a regulation dog fight and .... well I'd take pullis every day of the week.

Ps. those who disagree..... have a look at our up coming fixtures. This lad is leading us down. I m not just saying this as a fume but I seriously see flaws in his mentality of the serious situation we are in and the total lack of intensity that is surrounding goodison and our club this season. A sunday league manager would have stepped up and made baines take it. (Our captain was also tying his laces for one full minute!! ) We will be in the bottom 3 come end of feb.

Palace away
Liverpool home
Chelsea away
Arsenal away
