He spent a hell of a lot of money to make that Villa side decent then wanted even more money afterwards. He was a spendthrift then Villa nose dived and he blamed it on not getting the backing of the board despite how much he spent.

Don't remember him spending 150 million plus and then taking the team into the relegation zone though. Didn't he quit during the summer or one or two games into the season? Hazy recollection unfortunately.

Literally this story wrote its self after the final whistle in the Ireland match last night. Think someone even said on here last night expect Martin O'Neil to be favourite

God no! his last club side were Sunderland who he had playing worse football than David Moyes' Sunderland from what I remember. His Villa teams were always solid but were absolute bottlers, they threw away a couple of positions to us when we used to finish seasons like a house on fire and they would crawl over the line.

Ahh look at me getting worked up over this, full marks to whoever started to circulate this BS.

He quit because the club wanted to sell James Milner to fund transfers and he didn't want to lose Milner whilst making big money signings anyway.

Had a great side at Villa and had them pushing for Europe.....or was that John Gregory?

John Gregory anyone?
David O'Leary? He dominated with Leeds.
George Graham? Done well with Arsenal

I think we need to do something no other club does and look at the best managers of the 90's. Lets go old school on this one.

Now, where's Billy Bonds?
