If this lad was mentioned at any other time this place would have ripped him apart. He's a mid table player at best, if that's we want fair enough. He's not as good as Shaqiri and people reckon he's below our standard.

well we finished below Stoke for the past two seasons and he's been their best player for those two seasons.

Arnautovic is a very good player.

However, my only caveat is that I don't think he would offer us much different to what we currently have - he's not particularly a playmaker.

But people saying he's not good enough for us are talking tosh

As I said in the other thread Koeman hasn't got Man city money at his disposal and will have a budget that he'll need to work on. He'll most likely spend the bulk of that in priority positions (GK, CB, CM) he'll wheel and deal in areas such as LM where we have players like Mirallas who can rotate if needed. £12.5 million is a steal when you consider the prices of other players:

Gayle: £11 Million
Richie: £13 million
Wijnaldum: £25 million
Sissoko: £35 million
Deeney: £32 million
Ighalo: £38 million

I think the reason some are a bit underwhelmed with this is because they have bought into all the internet/twitter talk of big name players we are supposedly getting, when in reality a lot of that is just romantic talk, but they have taken it as done deals in the works. This is a bit more realistic. We need to get the ball rolling on this window and this would be a decent place to start.

If what Koeman said about the squad being massively unbalanced, then this transfer makes alot of sense.

Not every transfer needs to be £30 million, he will add quality depth and options for us.
