Mark Clattenburg "allowed Spurs to self destruct"

“I helped the game,” Clattenburg added. “I certainly benefited the game by my style of refereeing. Some referees would have played by the book; Tottenham would have been down to seven or eight players and probably lost and they would’ve been looking for an excuse. But I didn’t give them an excuse, because my gameplan was: let them lose the title.”

Shouldn't his "gameplan" have been to get decisions right and ref the match fairly?

You can understand that he didn't want to send anyone off as it spoils the spectacle, (much like what happened during the 2010 world cup final) however he and other referees should not think about that and judge each match on its own merits. Can't imagine what Leicester fans think of that: 'referee tries best to let Spurs win the league but luckily they self imploded anyhow'. :red:

The man's an egotistical cheat. Thinks he's a god and the pitch is his universe.

In other interpretations. ...he lost control of the match.t

His only game plan should be to react to the events on the field, not to go in with preconceptions or a plan to affect the outcome of the match

.... like he did in the derbies.
