I just don't understand some of the opinions on here. A team without Digne, Gana, and Bernard is going to get beat by any decent team. That result shouldn't have been that surprising.

I think it's hard to use that argument mate when those players have featured in defeats against dross teams like Millwall and Southampton, that Southampton performance was up there with the worst I've seen.

Fair, but we at least weren’t dominated through the middle of the park. Southampton was smart, they went right after Coleman and the right side most of the match, but we had most of the possession, just couldn’t break them down in the final third.
The Millwall game, I mean, come on, they generated virtually no chances in open play. Did they even have a single corner? Bernard didn’t play, but we had like 65% possession, just blew it on set pieces against a team that was very good on set pieces.
Losses are going to happen, even with our best players. We are far from a finished product. But the team is still much better than last years team and it’s not even close.

The footy we played at the start of the season in patches was really good to watch mate, but since the the Derby the footy has been a shambles to watch, misplaced passes all over the gaff, no movement, crab footy, no passion, no desire, players looking half arsed. It's been that bad that Schneiderlin would look a decent player out there amongst this bunch!
Agreed. So do we want better footie or more points? Remember, this is Everton, we can’t have both. I can think of only about half a dozen times this season in 26-ish games when I’ve thought “that was brilliant”. So imho we are not really watching “better football”. Square pass, square pass, square pass, lose the ball, concede a goal, rinse & repeat. Professional football is about getting results, usually by scoring more goals than the opposition. If you can achieve that playing prettily, great, but can you do that with this bunch of losers? No chance.

based on what?

I hate fat sam so much but he done a better job with a FAR worse team

What is better football if the final position is lower than last season? The position is decided through points.

Points are all that matters in the end. But points are a stats and an outcome just like any other. That 8th place team last year was lucky as could be. I think that’s the biggest problem. It wasn’t due to some difference in style of play. The team was bad. Created few opportunities and conceded many. It was a bottom 10 and really a borderline relegation team. Maybe the worst thing to happen to us was finishing 8th rather than 16th, where we maybe should’ve finished.

I just care about position I don’t care if the team hoof it and win 1-0 every week. Tippy tappy doesn’t not guarantee anything.

I’m not going to make the same post over and over again, but we were the worst defensive team in open play last year and amongst the worst at creating chances, too. It had nothing to do with style, we were terrible. We are significantly better this year, but because we miraculously finished 8th last year, some of you think we’ve regressed.

Being crap last year doesn't make this year any better. We are consistent in our crapness.

Look at our run for fixtures coming up, especially at home. Barring a minor miracle that goes against the way we have been playing the last few months, we are going to get turned over big time in a good few of them. The writing is already on the wall. He's finished. Just a matter of time.

While Millwall did nothing in open play mate, Digne was the one who gave away 2 stupid free - kicks that led to goals.

Also, I think it was more down to our atrocious defending that made Millwall look good at set - pieces mate.

I wouldn't debate that the team is better than last season, but since the Derby you could understand some saying that it is debatable.

I've mentioned it a few times, Silva gets the rest of the season, the Summer transfer window, and the first 10 games of next season for me.
