He really reminds me of Martinez in his first season, good in front of the camera's, speaks well, had us loving being Everton fans again, showing no fear no matter who we were playing, and just had that something about him.

Waits for "but Martinez, blah, blah, blah" I did say in his 'first season' so no need to turn this into another Martinez hate thread.
I believe it was in the off-season after ‘the season of 72’ that Capt Jags and his scheming lieutenant, Bainsey, first colluded in conspiring Bobby’s demise...and results reflected this treachery in the second season. In Bobby’s last off season, the Caledonian galoot also jumped aboard the ‘treason train’ and in pre-season training, he deliberately put the training cones out in a pattern that undermined Bobby’s extensive fitness training and defensive skills work.
Not a lot of people know of all this nefarious scheming that brought about Bobby’s downfall. In bringing it to light, we should all be very grateful for the tireless investigative work of esteemed GOTer @davek .

Superb work sir, and not a carpetbagger in sight.

Suppose the difference in my eye, and easy with hindsight would be Bobby took over a solid defensive team and turned it into one which could attack great, future seasons showed that was at the expense of a defense that constantly got worse.

Silva has done similar with the attack from arguably a lower point, but also has improved the defense, which bodes very well for future seasons.

I'm starting to actually go into games confident of a result again, it's been a while even against the really poor sides where I don't have wobbles but the confidence is coming back. The players are looking more and more confident and are gelling nicely, Getting Portuguese speakers was a good game plan to integrate the squad quicker, if that was the thinking behind it.

City have had 10 years of trying to get it right - Silva has had one window. From what he says, he was satisfied with it as well. All the players we've signed have been quoted saying Silva spoke to them personally and it helped convince them. He wants to play with attacking full backs, he got Digne - and called him telling him how he wanted to play and where he would fit in. He wanted a box to box, ball playing midfielder and he got Gomes. He wanted to play with pace on the break, he got Bernard who said he was excited to work with him and Richarlison who describes him as a father to him. To me these are Silva's players.

What will be interesting is if the loan players keep impressing, whether or not the money is there to make them permanent.

This, so will the doomsday sayers give it a rest until the end of the season?

I'm pleased so far. Seems to have the squad happy. Still 15 or so players to move out over the next 2-3 years but everyone still here looks to be happy.

All the statistical indicators (shots, passes etc) are all moving in the right direction.

Defensive looking solid-ish despite playing, effectively a 4-2-4.

Way ahead of the schedule.

According to some on here, Bobby was a miracle worker...he plaited sawdust

Needs to sort out the goals we are losing from set plays.Zonal marking isn't working.Just hope he doesn't end up being stubborn like Martinez.

Just Saturday.

The first for absolutely weeks and even that wasn’t from a direct corner. It was from a short corner played out meaning the whole defence then pushed out, as they should have done, so that the goalkeeper could take it, which he should have done and failed to do so.

Everyone conceded set piece goals but after the first few games when we were all over the place, Silva has clearly got his ideas across and it’s been working very well.
