We won't know for certain until Silva settles on a regular front line, but I'd be surprised if it ended up being more productive than Arnautovic, Anderson and Yarmolenko over the course of the season. There isn't much difference in quality between either team's goalkeeper, defence or midfield.

The way Anderson carried the ball was particularly impressive. That's what I expect a £45m attacking midfielder to look like; perfectly exemplified when he sent Sigurdsson for the Echo with some neat footwork and a sharp change of direction.

Yep, was really impressed with that Anderson yesterday. Maybe Bernard could become our Anderson?

Watford fan here.

Personally I think our club should drop the tapping up claim. Having that snake as head coach is its own punishment.
Let me guess what many of you are now thinking:
1. He cant organise a defence, especially against set pieces.
2. He has no plan B, not the brilliant tactician you've been told he was.
3. He is a Fraud
4. Players will soon be complaining about the physically exhausting training he insists upon and you'll have mounting injuries due to this.

Am I right?

Nope.

I really hope there is a manager in there somewhere otherwise we will see 2 or 3 high profile players leave in the next 2 windows.

His team selections, choice of zonal marking with players who cannot play it, demanding training sessions upping the injury count and poor subs.

Honestly I think he is a busted flush but we have to get behind him - no other choice.

I do have high hopes for Bernard. I think he has a bit of Pienaar about him.

The test for Anderson will be how he reacts when they start playing the nastier sides in the league, and he's singled out by a few proper yard dogs. Good players don't really get a lot of protection here unless they're playing for an influential club.

Any actual proof of this?

I forgot 5. Makes poor decisions regarding substitutions.
We could have warned you before hand if youd asked.
You'll keep him til at least Christmas? He needs to be given time? Okay, hand on heart, good luck to you.
Not bitter. Him getting tapped up did make our season go flat but pretty happy with the new head coach and how we have started.
Wasn't my intention to gloat.
Some of you seem really angry Ive posted Ill leave you to it..

Umm, you do realise everton fans on a forum didn't make the decision, so why would we ask?

He was never my first choice, but we can't be having another change of manager as we will become a laughing stock. We have to give him some time to try and put his ideas down and get rid of the rubbish in the squad.

Do one you utter wankspangle.

Still giving him a pass for this whole season personally.

I will judge him from next August.

More than anything we need stability, we cant just keep sacking managers, we have to give them time.
I agree
He wasn’t in my top 3 choices but he’s here now and has to be given a season / 3 windows to see how he does.
He inherited a mess and it will take time to fix
I think the saving grace is Brands and the signings the pair of them have made so far
Ricarlison and Digne look class
Zouma is a player I have always rated , he big strong fast and brave.
Hopefully we can persuade him to sign on permanently as I can’t see him getting a lot of game time at Chelsea
Mina has a good reputation so we will see how he beds in
Bernard will be ace for us
When we were talking about Zorro as a potential manager I looked at few of his games and Bernard stood out as class
Gomes who I know little about has to have been a good player at one stage of Barca signed him
It didn’t work out there but hopefully it works here and he signs on permanently
That’s 6 good players in
I’d prefer to wait till the summer to get the right players in rather than a knee jerk reaction in Jan and buy make do players
If all 6 players work out than a CF and a DM next summer ( plus Gomes and Zouma or similar players ) we should be well on our way
One caveat is though that all Silvas sides have a tendency to concede
Hopefully in this case with better players the Leopard can change his spots
