So we played crap then???
Behind the ball a lot. Came out with somewhat of Silva's 4-3-3 with Gomes/Gana behind Davies, but Davies still fairly deep, some pressing over the halfway line, mostly medium block - that worked getting Sane offsides quite a few times, the occassional higher press when we were down and they were messing around with it. Honestly, they are just better. They moved the ball so well, virtually their whole team can move it - they kept trying to spring Sane right, switching fields at times to do it, playing it between and behind Keane. Gana/Davies/Gomes were doing an OKAY job of preventing passing lanes, Kenny was hanging in there against Sane, we were playing VERY compact, more than we normally do.

We were fortunate not to concede more, honestly. They didn't have a TON of chances, but they had a couple that were very good ones that should've been buried. Gomes tired and was a step slow, so he started to get bypassed. Gana was all over the place in the tackle, but was late for the tackle on the set piece, which was unfortunate, maybe a bit foolish, although Fernandiho did the same thing not too long after. Zouma just stared at the set piece. It wasn't like against Wolves with a blown assignment. He may have been fooled by the first fake attempt.

Had some counter attacking opportunities, Walcott once again made a bunch of poor decisions with and without the ball, although his speed and movement was decent. DCL had some flick ons that sprung Theo. Man City gave the ball away a few times due to some pressure, but we just weren't efficient with the way we attacked them once we got it. Had a few corners and set pieces that had good service, but no finish. We had throws, had it in their end several times, they were a bit frustrated in the back and yelling at each other, but nothing came out of it. Had some possession at times, Gana and Gomes especially doing well on the ball. Davies was the big force though - he was constantly moving forward, pushing the team, making good runs, springing other players, he was quite good. When he doesn't have as much responsibility and he can get after it, he's much better.

That's my take at least.
