That excuse went out of the window when he signed a new contract. When he first came there may have been an argument that he'd been duped, and he didn't have as much control as he wanted/needed/had been promised. He knows the score now, if he's not allowed to direct football then he's now fully complicit in that and deserves no sympathy.
